Thought I would quickly congratulate the club for an excellent event today.
It was well attended with 120 guests, and at £50 per head it generated much valuable revenue, and much good will as it was well organised and executed.
Before the game, and during an excellent dinner, we had a talk form Lordy on his plans for the game, a couple of games of "heads and tails" nostalgically hosted by Steve Bellis, then Flynn/Todd talked us through a video of some the great games they featured in.
Best story went to Flynny who told us about Neil Edwards stag night, which was the night of the Wembley defeat to Burnley when the players decide to launch Neil in the feature pond in the hotel reception, for which the club later received a bill for 4 dead Koi Carp.
Both players stated their best moment was the Chesterfield away 1-0 promotion game, while Flynn stated his worst moment was being dropped by Carlton Palmer, and replaced by Carlton Palmer, while Toddy's was Danny leaving.
The team did their bit and helped the day with a good performance, and well earned victory, which always helps !
After the game in a packed exec lounge, Jevons was presented with his MOM award, and all sponsors had photos with the two County legends. Steve Bellis even managed to auction a novelty Chinese watch (worth about £1) for £50 for the club.
When I left at 6:30 the lounge was still very well populated and keeping the bar staff very busy, which is a stark difference to other games recently where there have been less than 12 people in there, and its been deserted 10 mins after the final whistle.
All in all an very good day, enjoyed by all, and the a massive difference to the very poor corporate offering of late from the club. More of this please, keep up the good work Chris Jolley and if there is future days like this then its well worth grabbing a place if you can.
