The side stand at Leeds Rugby League is probably what we could do with. Looks smart, has a double double of exec boxes and has capacity of around 4K I’d rather have the one on the other side with the terracing

I'll personally be amazed if EP ever gets beyond 20,000!
I suspect that in negotiations with (e.g.) the Council you'd start with big plans, big numbers and then be prepared to negotiate down a bit, till an acceptable compromise figure is reached. A lot of factors to be taken into consideration... such as access/exit routes, relations with local residents, etc. Plus, County don't yet own EP anyway, and there's also the crucial fact that they don't own the land behind the Railway end. Just to add on the ownership point, I think Stott said at the forum he's hoping for ownership by end of the year, or early next year. Can't quite remember. But he seems very confident it's just a matter of time. I hope it is the club buying it and not Stott.

Looks OK, BUT it actually only has a few more seats than our current Pop side, which holds 2400.
(In fact, according to the Football Ground Guide website, "It has a single tier of seating that comprises 2,340 seats.") I must admit it looks as though there are a few more than that, as it has at least a couple more rows than our Pop side... Hell no. We want way bigger and better than that shite. each to there own but its hardly shite. ticks the exec box needs and we do not have to build an exact copy of it. 3,000 capacity is adequate and any higher could mean more space needed for people entering and exiting the stand. if we give the RE over to away fans then there would be extra work needed to get fans and exects into the pop side. its fine people wanting everything so much bigger and any fool can design a stadium itself of any size. in todays world of health and safety entering and leaving the ground is of upmost importance which a lot fail to realize.

I believe the Oldham stand also contains within its footprint sizeable "community" facilities (gym, etc). But I've never visited Boundary Park since the stand was built, so don't take that as gospel.
You may recall Brendan Ellwood produced plans (in about 1999) for a large "Millennium stand" at the Railway end, which included a hotel behind the seating deck, the 2(?) top floors of which would have faced the pitch, with the bedrooms there capable of being converted into executive boxes on match days.
I seem to remember that design, too, would have included a gym open to the public, and possibly also new changing rooms for the players. Of course, County never got their hands on any Millennium cash and quite possibly the local political situation was less sympathetic/visionary then it now seems to be.
Was that all really 22 years ago?! Well, at least we got some seats...
To be fair to the club, they had at least rebuilt the Railway end as a modern terrace in the mid 1980s, following on from the tragic events at Bradford in 1985. Prior to that it was a crumbling disgrace, with real health and safety hazards. And if you go back to the mid 1960s, chairman Vic Bernard was floating the idea of a new stand at that end. I never saw any actual designs, though: I think it was all just a vague aspiration, and as ever, County were skint anyway.

Love the idea of a hotel facing the pitch at EP.
I've stayed a couple of times at the hilton garden inn at old trafford cricket ground and it's absolutely fantastic.
I suppose the issue is that who the hell would be staying in Edgeley that justifies a large hotel development.

Speaking of hotels, Working near Bolton, when we have clients or agents come over to the UK we tend to book them in the White's Hotel in the Bolton's stadium and have always liked the fact that you can get a room with a view or even a balcony you can go and sit on to watch the game! Why anyone would want to is a different story but I think it's a nice little gimmick for the hotel.

You’ve really good transport links to London / Manchester, and all very convenient for visiting the wealthy parts of north Cheshire / south Manchester. much more a business travel kind of market than a leisure one, but with Manchester generally a bit short of hotel beds, definitely a market for it (at least pre Covid)

The roof looks like a complete waste of money, might just about keep the people in the boxes dry

Many of them are stuck in the middle of industrial estates or in urban areas like Edgeley and are full to the gunwales with contractors and other assorted road warriors during the week.

And we are ten minutes away from the train station, which is the main line into Manchester and London. A few hotels have finally popped up in Stockport, but the supply is still very limited.
