It's only a matter of time before Johnson does something that even he can't get away with, people will take to the streets at some point, especially those new Tory when they realise they've been had. You reckon? The way the world is these days, it feels like actions and facts don't matter anymore. There's always people willing to excuse it or throw out whataboutery until another news story takes the lead. Look at Trump right now and the amount of things he's said and done in not only the last few monthsnbut in his 3 years in office. He mocked a disabled journalist before he was even elected; that should have been the end of it but it was excused and forgotten about and he was voted in. I still think he'll get re-elected too, despite the shambolic and embarrassing way he's dealt with this crisis. If he's getting away with that over there then it's no surprise Johnson and the Tories can basically do what the f*ck they like without repercussion.

In a couple of years time people will forget that before the pandemic National (Government) Debt was £2 Trillion higher than what they inherited from Labour around 10 years ago.
No doubt by the time the next election comes around the usual suspects will claim that the Virus and Brexit caused all the financial problems and herds will swallow it.

he should not have the chance to resign but get sacked first. its not what he actually has done but doing the opposite of telling the rest of us what to do that annoys me. another one from the top doing the do what i say and not as i do . must be great to be so superior to the rest of mankind.

One rule for them, one rule for the rest of us - as it always has been. That wouldn't be so bad but it's not like it's always been, this government just like Trump will repeat a lie until it becomes accepted as truth, there used to be some standards.

The question remains whether Cummings put the health of his parents at risk by travelling North. He may have the inborn wisdom of a Tory but even he wouldn't be able to know whether his son was asymptomatic just by looking at him. It's reasonable to assume that if one of them was symptomatic the other 2 would be asymptomatic.
Travelling from London to Durham and back would require toilet breaks - especially with a 4 year old who isn't going to use the facilities on his own - and re-fueling for the car. We can try to avoid people as much as we can but occasionally we can't and that's why we were told not to do it in the first place. A surprising example of common sense that was lost when Bozo announced that people could drive any distance they wanted for exercise purposes.o

At the time this happened the pandemic was at it's height in London, and relatively light in the north east. Since it happened the entire picture has reversed. Cummings was a part of this. Bears thinking about.

No doubt by the time the next election comes around the usual suspects will claim that the Virus and Brexit caused all the financial problems and herds will swallow it. They've certainly found the magic money tree. Hopefully this will see the end of that bollox, but I doubt it. The Right play on people's fears, and the media allow and encourage it. One of the biggest cons they played was convincing people that a national economy is the same as a household economy. The analogy only works if the household concerned had a money printing press in their shed. Newsflash - the government *can't* run out of money. Remember the jokey note "there's no money left"? It was part of a silly tradition, but Cameron and his chums made out as though it was a statement of fact, with Dishface pulling out his note at every opportunity, and using the lie (the Tories lie? You're kidding!) to justify punitive austerity so that small government-lovers could all have wet dreams. Someone tweeted this earlier, and is absolutely nails it: "Imagine being Keir Starmer, living in constant fear of being one badly-timed photo of eating breakfast away from ruin. While watching the Tory party, off their tits on coke, chucking public money at mistresses, driving around with Covid flicking their unwashed fingers at voters." Tories are judged by different rules and enough of the voting public are such idiots that, under FPTP, it means they keep winning.

Police have turned up at Cummings' house and there's no-one in.
Johnson has stepped in to take the briefing today which has been delayed until 17:00.
He's a goner.

These kind of threads are normally busy with Tory supporters fighting back. What's happened, have they not migrated over or just find this indefensible?
