Spain is about 3 times the size of Briain. This Briain sounds like a right fat b******. Ha Ha! Well spotted. Thats what I love about this board. Error corrected. Though how you post without it tagging onto the post of the person you're replying too, I haven't quite worked that one out yet.....

No I think you were correct to be fair. Spain's population is more or less 2/3rds of ours. But our population, by those figures, is pretty much exactly 150% of their's, therefore "50% higher" Its 37% higher Martin, not that close to 50% at all. Glad you're not calculating my premiums Yeah you're right. Thank God for calculators

Roll on the second wave. I am back from my daily exercise in New Brighton and can’t believe what I have just witnessed. No qualms with anybody taking on the new rules two days before they come into effect, and the local Wirral populace have certainly done that regarding the number within a gathering. However, they don’t seem to have heard about the second part of the rule! Out the 100 or so (soon to be legitimately sized) gatherings I saw, only a handful were social distancing. i started to get used to this when I came across the mother of all flouting where a group of about 15 young adults in a sort of huddle - see photo. Incredibly I came across several groups of similar size before getting the hell out of there. As this is likely to be reflected throughout the country, a second wave sort of seems inevitable. The lack of any police presence anywhere in the town smacks of an acceptance that a large chunk of the population cannot count to 6 so we’ll just let them get on with it.
Love New Brighton Beach. Spent many nights in the motorhome down at Kings Parade. Even the cranes in the background are sort of beautiful at night. Is the ban on motorhomes overnighting still in place there?

It's just been announced here that Madrid's infection rate has started to rise again......less than one week after their restrictions were eased. 26 more cases today than yesterday.
Too soon? Too right by the looks of it in 🇪🇸

too soon or not due to this warm dry weather many people have had enough. many workers have either worked from home or been kept at home now for over 10 weeks. many have entered a new world due to this. they have been stuck in with their partners and kids nearly 24 hours a day. this usually only happens on holiday without as much stress. when they do go out its this regimented shopping in place where it actually takes longer doing it than before. no wonder they want to meet others, get down to the beach to escape the grind and boredom. without the cummings effect this was bound to happen. how many on here have visited family members that live near to them. probably more than that will admit to it. if my lad lived nearer to me i certainly would have seen him during the lockdown if he wanted me to do so.

It’s difficult but it’s required. I’ve seen my elderly grandparents twice in the last 12 weeks. Both times I’ve been outside and they’ve been at their window (first floor flat) and that’s as close as I’ll go. It’s extremely hard but could I live with the guilt of the thought it was me that passed it on to them if I ignored the situation? Probably not. Both in their 80’s and one with health issues at the best of times. On the other hand, I have been round to see my mum a few times. One of those times being during lockdown.

Given that social distancing seems to be held as the main measure to prevent the virus spread, in theory meeting up with anybody should be safe if that rule is adhered to. I think the government know that they cannot trust a large section of the population to comply with that simple sounding rule - something I agree with having witnessed large scale blatant dickheadery yesterday.

Apologies, Malc, I misread your comment. You were talking about land mass, I believe, having just reread your comment. I will put on my dunce's hat. Landmass counts for nothing in Spain, most of it is useless dry rock and people are piled up in flats in towns and cities.

It's a difficult one this. Clearly a political decision with the scientific bods distancing themselves as quickly as possible. Personally I think its too soon, but the problem is when would it be the right time. Without a vaccine, possibly 18 months away minimum and maybe never, there will always be risk. With the best will in the world there is no way that we can stay in lockdown for that amount of time, we are probably at breaking point now. We have to take a leap sooner or later or there won't be much of the world or society left to go back to. I'm very wary, and dread being put back to full lockdown within weeks.
