The plane used by Boris Johnson and members of the royal family for international travel is being repainted in the colours of the Union flag to "better represent" the UK abroad.
Can someone please explain why it costs nearly a £million to repaint a plane?

Perhaps they should use some of the money to repair the PM's car. What a silly shunt.

Probably right, although given they tend to be shamed into things at the minute (except sacking Cummings) they might have been shamed into not painting the plane. What a ridiculous sentence I've just written.

Wouldn't Del Boy, Rodney & Grandad have done the painting job for £900 and not £900,000?

Based completely on anecdotal evidence and what I see on social media, I get the feeling that the tide might be turning. Many of those that appeared to vote conservative to get brexit done, seem to being seeing this government for what they are. It’s just a shame we have to wait so long until we get the chance to remove them

Can someone please explain why it costs nearly a £million to repaint a plane? Because its Public sector. Every project that's funded by the taxpayer that I've ever been involved in is an absolute free-for-all. It makes me sick.

Not happy about not completing the season. The government is asking that people are not to attend large gatherings of more than 6 people. I understand that people want to show their passion for a cause they care deeply about, but remember this is a virus that thrives on social contact, regardless of what your cause will be. So we all must stay alert control the virus and stay alive. This means that there will be no attendances at football matches, maybe for the end of this year and beyond. Schools are returning in September on a social distancing basis, but bars and restaurants will not be allowed to open for sometime. Theatres have written off productions and will review in January 2021, so I feel this season should have been completed, as next season won’t be IMO.

It won't be the public sector carrying out the work and making a huge profit.

The plane does a better job of representing Britain than the Prime Minister

Can someone please explain why it costs nearly a £million to repaint a plane? Seen a few posts suggesting its not just 900k to paint it. It includes routine maintenance and upgrades. Which would make more sence. I would imagine painting it red white and blue instead of grey again has inflated the bill some what which is where the story has come from.

Can't imagine painting a plane is cheap... how much does it cost to paint the inside of a se? A car? A barge? Etc... it's hardly a simple job to get right and guarantee a good job.
