I've been reading on the CAMRA mailing list that there is a mixed bag of openings this weekend. The Petersgate Tap isn't opening as they are expecting a deluge of people to be out. The Olde Vic won't be opening at all anytime soon as they can't comply with the rules and regulations. The Alexandra is opening but you have to book a slot which I believe is for 4 hours. I've been told they are fully booked this weekend. Looking on the Spoons website it looks as though it's business as usual although they may stop people coming in if it looks to busy. Puss in Boots and Jolly Sailor are open for beer from Monday and then food on Tuesday. Most of the pubs in Cheadle Hulme you have to book slots for. I can't see many pubs on Edgeley being in a position to open as most of them are pretty tiny inside. Most of the pubs are saying you have to leave contact details in case they need to trace you which makes sense but what about data protection?
I'm going to go to my local as long as it's not too busy and I might have a mooch around Stockport in the afternoon just to see what's occuring.
What's happening in your local area?

I suppose it's not a problem for me as I'm Teetotal (probably in the very small minority). As I type this I can see a Boxed Bottle of Jacobs Creek Reserve Wine that was given me some 5/6 years ago and still unopened. The closest I get to Beer is a few cans of GINGER BEER(!), sometimes mixed with Milk as long as you put the Milk in first.

Don't drink alcohol, caffeine, or milk (of any kind) 🙂

Been dying for a proper pint but the thing i've missed most is the social aspect, walking into the pub & having a chinwag with different people, young & old. My local is opening next Monday, I want to go in at some point to support the lovely young couple who took over not so long ago but to be honest i'm not sure if i can be bothered with all the faffing about, booking a table to go to the pub is weird & i'm not sure if it's going to work at all, most of the usual clientele apart from the old boys who sit in there all day are people who pop in for a few after work, I myself like to table hop & talk to different groups but i'd imagine that will be a no no, so i'm not sure if there's much point, probably give it a go at some point though.

Most of the decent places to drink down here are selling takeaways, I'd personally much rather sit on the beach drinking than inside a pub during the summer months.
They can stay shut until autumn for me.

I'll be getting takeaway beer here in Brum this Saturday, from The Gunmaker's Arms (home of Two Towers Brewery) to be precise. I'll also have a mooch around to see what the new regulations look like as we are due to have our first meeting there-when, we don't know. Our CAMRA Regional Director has said meetings and socials are unlikely to take place before September/October at the earliest. My local brewery, Red Moon in Yardley, is opening its bar on Friday 10th. Again I'll pop in for takeaway beer and a look round. Planning on coming up to God's own town mid to late July to see family. Probably stay over and again get take away beer(probably from The Petersgate Tap) and (you've guessed) have a look around. First actual time in a pub is likely to be in the Red Moon bar to celebrate the end of the academic year.

The Jolly Sailor and the Blossoms are my locals (I'm pretty much equidistant between them)... I guess it'll be a good while before the Blossoms can open its tiny rooms again, which is a crying shame. The Jolly has no such issues with its great expansive spaces inside and out ..whether I can be faffed with the booking etc is another question. Im another one who's attracted by the very anonymity of a pub.

The Jolly is also my local but I'm in no rush to get back in there under the current restrictions, at a push a beer outside round the back if I'm passing on sunny day to see some of the faces I've not seen for a while maybe. As nice as the refurb has been and the new clientele that it brings I'd take the old pub and its atmosphere anytime over what we have now.

You must be near me then as mine are the same but I've never been a fan of the Jolly, I didn't realise they were doing a booking system, I'd much rather have a pint in the Blossoms but like you say it's unlikely to be opening any time soon which is a shame, I just hope Saturday doesn't turn into yet another national disgrace of a day.

They are certainly two very different pubs, if I had to choose one I'm with you on the choice.
Thinking about booking I recall just now it was last New Year's Eve I enquired early on about a drink in the Jolly and was discouraged by the necessity to book...guess what, we ended up in our other local, where no such onerous arrangements were in place. Never would have imagined then how that sort of thing would become standard practice.

Yeah it's a bit of a nightmare isn't it, I don't know what the other pubs I go to in Stockport are doing with the exception of the Cracked Actor who are also doing bookings which I get with that place, I've not seen anything from Remedy or Project 53 as of yet.

From a random search on Facebook, I've seen the Arden Arms are opening without taking bookings - Do a great Sunday Roast there

I'm giving it a couple of weeks anyway before I head for a pint, I'll let it calm down a bit first.

Issue with those who aren’t taking bookings (I believe the Produce Hall aren’t taking them either) is that people may travel to some of them and end up having to be turned away or waiting outside until space becomes available.
