They are in a terrible state. Daily Covid cases at 77k and have risen 50% in the last 2 weeks. In another week they look like they’ll be over 100k a day. That is before the winter spike!
whilst the public have their part to play, they have been badly let down by Trump. Incompetent and indifferent.
can see this ending very badly for them.

Also going pretty badly in your old South American stomping ground I believe Matty, and is it true Russia is struggling? And no coincidence I don't think. Bolsonaro and Trump and Putin of the same stripe... despots whose machismo will not allow them to accept that in this virus they confront an enemy who will not be cowed by displays of aggression/grandiose gestures/bluster. Also similar in that their claim to be on the side of the people unravels at the first sign of mortal danger, at which point they retreat into the safety afforded by their innate privilege. Trump we know shamefully went and hid in a bunker...he surely won't escape the reckoning when this plays out.

Bolsonaro and Trump don’t care about their people and it shows. They are also pretty much devoid of the skills needed to govern successfully (if you measure it by how they look after their people) so they probably couldn’t do any better even if they wanted to, which they don’t. however, they aren’t the only ones to blame. The Brazilian elite have been robbing the state coffers blind for a long time, which means there is little or no infrastructure to support the people through this crisis. You don’t work, you go hungry. The only people that might help the poor on occasion are the drug gangs. Add to that the general I’ll do what I want and sod you’ attitude of a significant chunk of Brazilians (but not all) and you have a recipe for a Covid massacre.

All the indications are that at present, America will tell Trump where to go in November, and it’s not back to the White House. But there’s a lot of time between now and then for that to change. And it does look especially bad there.

Trump we know shamefully went and hid in a bunker...he surely won't escape the reckoning when this plays out. He will have something up his sleeve. Expecting to see something on Joe Biden around about end of September / Early October as today is too early and may been seen as yesterdays news when the polls open. China and Russia want Trump to remain. China will benefit economically if they can keep him in whilst Russia will gain influence in the middle east and parts of Europe. The US have been getting 60-70 thousand new cases a day for a few weeks now, Trump has larded this as evidence that they have the biggest and best testing regime in he World. Bollox, we have the World Class Testing set up, or at least we will do in November when the App is ready. We cant talk though. Hancock is trying to put more doubt into the statistics whilst Johnson is distancing himself from SAGE and the responsibility for safety in the workplace (that's down to the employers!). Whitty and Valance are at odds with the Government. Who do the Employers take their lead from? Great British Common Sense FFS. Johnson has also passed the buck / book on to local authorities pretty much in the same way that Trump did to the State Governors. If there is a second spike we can see where the responsibility will lie.

Sadly its the American attitude of"it wont happen here".9/11 and Oklahoma dispel that theory but they would not take heed of warnings and reopened beaches, theme parks and tried to blame everyone else but themselves.

I hope you're relatives are all okay Matty, I'm back here until September and this isn't a dig at Johnson but I feel far less comfortable here, there's just a few wearing masks, no gloves in supermarkets and very little distancing.

I can understand that. We can already see that the handling of the crisis in this country has been a car crash. Not as bad as the multiple pile ups in the US and Brazil, but poor compared to our European friends.

My eldest daughter Gabriella has had the virus and recovered. She is lucky as from a monied family and is young and healthy. None of the wife’s (large) family are working except one. That leaves them in a dire situation and if she hadn’t helped them out they would have gone hungry.

At first there was social distancing, Queues outside Supermarkets, Daily Briefings that were not all self congratulaTORY bollox and genuine support for the NHS and Care Workers. Round of applause on a Thursday night (because showing you care is worth so much more than a fookin pay rise) disappeared and Great British Common Sense took over. 500,000 on the beach at Bournemouth. Guidelines. 3 Billion for the NHS (£45 a week per person) or $45 if Johnson gets his way. It's unparalleled generosity! People aren't questioning anymore. It's boring. The pubs are open! If you use common sense you can do anything!
