Still people going round the Supermarket yesterday with no masks and failing to distance. Plain selfish.

I think the gov have got a couple of things right lately but I can't help thinking this could be an attempt to create a row with Europe which could build support for their wider agenda.

Agreed, it will be a long time before I feel comfortable on any public transport yet alone an enclosed flying tin can sharing stale air. the government has tried to put us all off using buses, trains and trams. think they have actually encouraged the use of planes. its about the economy or part of it anyway the leisure and tourism industry. do not think a lot out there realize that your local bus services are in big danger. do not know if its going to be a national meeting or a local one but stagecoach are having one in the midlands about their future. garage closures, more and more service cuts with long distance ones being cancelled for the forseable future. remember its not that long ago we were being encouraged to use public transport but the whole future of part of it may be lost with no guarentee of it returning. which is really a priority for our future. a bus company going tits up or another holiday company or airline. If things don't change soon then the public transport industry across the country will be decimated. No way can they sustain the losses they are taking at the moment without massive service cuts and major redundancies, some of which have already started. When you think that Stagecoach is the biggest private employer in the town then any major job cuts will have serious repercussions throughout the town. Funny though how Andy Burnham has lost interest in taking over the local transport network as it's losing money. Proves he was after the profits rather than helping the public.

Why are people rushing to go away? What’s the appeal? I’ll not be going anywhere for the foreseeable and I appreciate others will have a different opinion but I’d be interested to understand why. A couple of weeks ago I was swimming in the sea at San Sebastian, later on I sat outside a bar in the old town with a bottle of red and a few tapas, seems a world away now but life's too short not to do these things.

These places will still be around next year though won't they, life will be short if we start travelling everywhere again straight away. Even with people who have private villas etc.. it's still the plane, the airports etc.. that are the hot spots.

Initial feedback I've been getting is that airports aren't too bad right now.
Essentially, there are far fewer people travelling than usual, so the masses of unused capacity makes socially distancing relatively easy.
Planes are certainly a concern though - different airlines all have detailed policies in place on their website, so it's very much a case of differing views on personal risk.

If you're planning on going abroad this year (like me) you're doing it in the full knowledge the trip might be off the day before you go, and quarantine rules might change while you're away, anyone complaining about that needs a slap across the chops

But we've had 2 deaths in the last 7 days.
Actually, I must have misheard the info I was given. According to the English language radio station in Mojacar this morning, the last death in hospital across the 5 hospitals in the Almeria province was on May 24th. 2 people have been taken into intensive care in the past 7 days.
There's a small town about 75 miles from here called Totana in the Murcia province. It's currently back under lockdown. Apparently though, they've tested lots of people who they've traced as having been at a local nightclub. Most are under 35 and not showing symptoms of the disease but they have locked the town down as a precaution.
I doubt very much the Britsh press are telling you this though.

The specific Totana news has made the press, as has the bit about the rise in cases being linked to the reopening of nightclubs. Your point about the fruit pickers earlier wasn't one I've seen elsewhere.
More generally, the fact it is younger people now getting infected seems to be a pan-European trend. A reasonable assumption is that younger people are more willing to take more risks as they have realised the virus isn't likely to kill them and / or their employers are now demanding they return to work in greater numbers in sectors dominated by younger workers, such as hospitality.

If they aren't making income but still have expenditures, how are they going to be around next year? The places won't disappear will they? Yes some businesses will disappear but I am sure that where there is demand there will always be supply. What's the alternative? Just fook it and carry on?

Like you say though some businesses will disappear. Others may open. But you'd be a brave man buying a small bar/restaurant and opening with Covid in the air especially faced with a bunch of Brits who can't clear their own litter or pick up their own dogshite, ne'er mind wash their own hands and consider the idea of wearing a mask as some kind of attack on their human right to be scruffy swines.

Only the airports worry me, the bars are well run and fortunately everything happens outside, I drove back 2 weeks ago and got the ferry which was really well organised.
