Don't know Jack, but a bar is a much more confined space than a supermarket.

Don't know Jack, but a bar is a much more confined space than a supermarket. Bar staff touch your glasses/bottles etc too, much more than supermarket staff touch anything you immediately consume.

So if I have this straight... For the past few months, the government has been negligent, and killed thousands of people due to their evil Tory ways / putting the economy above health. Now, when they have acted swiftly, they’re evil Tories for putting protecting health above protecting the economy of a different country. As Jack has said above, it’s to do with a spike in cases, not deaths - it’s similar reasoning that caused the local lockdown in Leicester / special measures in Luton etc. I’d also note that Norway has done the same as us, and Germany are also considering some stricter rules on visits to Spain. We’ve also opened up another 15 or so countries for travel in the last few days - it’s not a blanket ban on holidays, and we aren’t the only ones doing this. Absolutely no help with anyone with a holiday booked, but travel this summer is always going to be massively subject to change. That's because the Tories are evil careless b*stards full stop. The Spain quarantine thing is all about money, putting people off going away so they spend their money here and boost the economy back up, wrapped up in their usual deceitful pass the buck way.

I agree with Durango. It wouldn't surprise me if the Tories are using the quarantine card as some weird Brexit negotiation. Either give us what we want or we more or less stop the Brits spending abroad.

Wasn’t so long ago we were being told by some that Spain wouldn’t want us due to our status, now it seems many areas/islands are desperate to be excluded from the ban.

But we've had 2 deaths in the last 7 days. Actually, I must have misheard the info I was given. According to the English language radio station in Mojacar this morning, the last death in hospital across the 5 hospitals in the Almeria province was on May 24th. 2 people have been taken into intensive care in the past 7 days. There's a small town about 75 miles from here called Totana in the Murcia province. It's currently back under lockdown. Apparently though, they've tested lots of people who they've traced as having been at a local nightclub. Most are under 35 and not showing symptoms of the disease but they have locked the town down as a precaution. I doubt very much the Britsh press are telling you this though. Our current death rate is below the 5 year average and has been for the last 4 weeks. The stats at the moment are all over the place. Pretty much the only ones that you can believe are the excess deaths. See www.ft.com/content/a26fbf7e-48f8-11ea-aeb3-955839e06441UK's figures are terrible. 45% extra. Almost as bad as Spain's at 56%.

Why are people rushing to go away? What’s the appeal? I’ll not be going anywhere for the foreseeable and I appreciate others will have a different opinion but I’d be interested to understand why. We’re going away in a couple of weeks, booked it last year. I’m not overly arsed about going but the Mrs wants to and it will be good to get away. Different people have different views on this i suppose. Imagine County’s first home game was next Saturday, how many do you think would turn up if they were allowed? With the new signings we’d get a decent gate regardless of COVID

Still people going round the Supermarket yesterday with no masks and failing to distance. Plain selfish. These people piss me right off. Also these morons who wear a mask buy just have it over the mouths. Brainless.

Yeah fair enough. It’s a difficult decision, I don’t think I’d book now if we hadn’t already done so but there’s risks in everything you do. My Mrs works for the NHS so has worked right through where as I work in retail and as much as we try to follow the guidelines, I’m definitely in contact with customers as we’ve never been busier. I happily wear a mask when visiting shops but it’s come about 5 months too late ....

A couple of weeks ago I was swimming in the sea at San Sebastian, later on I sat outside a bar in the old town with a bottle of red and a few tapas, seems a world away now but life's too short not to do these things. You live there though so it’s different. Flights would be a concern for me and I’m quite laid back on the whole thing for most things. Would I fancy being stuck in an enclosed space with 200 or so randomers from god knows where in the country? No thanks. Random tests on arrival won’t be any comfort for those who may have been sitting in the vicinity of the ones that come back with positive tests. If symptoms take 2 weeks to arrive, you’ve then got the ones who potentially picked it up on the outbound flight possibly passing it on to others on the inbound flight if they’ve gone for 10/14 nights.

We went to Costco earlier today and was pleasantly surprised how many were wearing masks, though yet again there were a few who seem unable to work out how to wear them properly.
