.....it’s days since the last one!
Am expecting a goalie, CB, RB and CDM (cover/competition for Maynard and Keane) as a minimum. What position does this Croasdale play?

Seems to be a Midfield player, looking on wiki not many goals so possibly defensive?

Remember when Stopforth was a coup? The lad always put a shift in but wow things were bad, Lofthouse, Churchman and that kid who got body slammed, they were bad days.

Makes me laugh that's how we remember that player, by being body slammed rather than what he brought to the team, or even his name. Its entirely appropriate though, I genuinely can't remember his name other than being the victim of a WWE move haha They really were bad days. Back to the subject - I'd like to see another CB (Stott), back up GK and a CM. Maybe also a RW as I reckon we could need better than Thomas/Stephenson there - see how the season starts in the first month.

Must admit I liked Churchman and thought he had potential, particularly when paired with Milligan & Baker under Lord. Would have been interesting to see how he would have developed under JG / a club that wasn't a basketcase, but he seems to have stuck in the game at NPL level even so.

First position that springs to mind is right back, I like Minihan but he's definitely more attacking, we need a good out-and-out RB. Following that there's the much-talked-about left sided centre half, bringing us up to 8 players who can cover all the defending roles, which is about what you'd want from a 20-man squad
Middle of the park, really think we need a more attack-minded no8 (a NL-standard Dimaio), and possibly another box-to-box type, to complement/cover for Rooney.
Up front is where we already look strongest. Reid and Jennings can go left wing but I think we may look out for an out-and-out left winger. Definitely need a right-sided forward, who can challenge Thomas but also play central.
Along with another GK option, that should bring us up to a very strong, versatile 20-ish man squad

The current line up would probably be:
1, Hinchliffe 2, Minihan 3, Kitching 4, Maynard 5, Hogan 6, Palmer 7, Thomas 8, Rooney 9, Bennett 10, Reid 11, C Jennings
Anyone see it differently?

Maybe Keane instead of Thomas depending on formation? I’m no expert but maybe Maynard and Keane in central mid with Rooney slightly more forward and then the front three. Bit like United with Pogba and Matic behind Fernandes and then Rashford Martial and Greenwood

looks about right.
J Jennings for Kitching in away games perhaps?
Keane coming in for Reid, and Rooney at 10 in some games?
Keane as 3rd CB and Minihan/Thomas at right wingback when we play a back 3
Think there is still likely to be at least one more attacking player to come, but without knowing where JG sees C Jennings playing, difficult to know precisely which position. This may well be a loan acquisition though once the rest of the side is in place.
We'll definitely see another right sided player to challenge Minihan/Thomas I'd have thought.
another keeper / 3rd centre back / additional midfielder also seem missing (unless Curran is much closer to the side than we realise)

So many options to change games next season. This is where Jim excels when he is given the tools.
Exciting time ahead.

Jim said in his interview that Kitching reminds him of Jim McNulty which makes me think he'll be the 3rd centre half if we play a back three and cover for James Jennings but Hartlepool fans say he can play midfield aswell.
I personally think we'll stick to 4-2-3-1 and play the same way we have the last 2/3 years with 2 holding midfielders
Hinchliffe
Minihan Palmer Hogan Jennings
Maynard Keane
Jennings Rooney Thomas
Bennett

With some signings still to come, we’re either going to have an incredibly strong bench or if they’re players who will get in ahead of that 11^ then 😳
