It isn’t that JG is CBA, it is the risk to the other players. Remember chatting to Peter Ward about it and he said they were very much of the view that one bad apple really can ruin the whole barrel. I think they are spot on with that approach. That is one of the reasons JG hit the social loafers head on (the other was they needed shifting despite being sh!te and on high wages).

I notice Salford have made some useful signings and have announced Rochdale’s scoring ace Ian Henderson. When I heard Rochdale had released Ian, at first I thought because of his goals he would be a useful signing for us, but then I noticed he is 36 next January and would only be a short term gap. Salford for their wisdom have given the lad a two year contract, I bet he is laughing all the way to the bank!

I wonder if it is to do with keeping him out of the higher tax bracket.....

I don't think a two-year deal is unreasonable for him, looks after himself well, he might carry on into his 40s Albie-style

We'd be neglecting a massive area of quality in the market by not pursuing loan signings for young players at clubs higher up the pyramid. We've had some great young players come here to begin to ply their trade and they've been great. We should be active in this reagard.

It was noticeable last season how many side we superior to us when it came to physicality and we were bullied out of games a couple of times. Judging by this photo that One Stockport tweeted yesterday, I don't see that being a problem next season. Adam Thomas, Jordan Keane, James Jennings, Lois Maynard, Richie Bennett don't feature, but are all tall lads too, taller than many of those pictured

Cannot see any reason why Jim won’t do this but we need some more permanent signings first. Then add loans throughout the season. Personally I feel we need competition for Hinchliffe, Minihan, Palmer, Hogan, Thomas and Rooney. I would like a natural goalscorer. If we continue to add the same quality we should bulldoze through this league.

Possible backup keeper. Josh Barnes a young keeper recently released by Derby County. Not ITK at all, just based on the fact that he's liked a couple of Jim's recent tweets and he looks a bit like the keeper in the background of one of the recent training pictures.

Good detective work Phil. Only 5’9” inches though, fair bit on the short side for a keeper.
