I sold some right rubbish as a student trying to earn a crust- alarms, windows even BK's Conservatories he personally gave me the sack Strangely so did I... Worked at Weatherseal in Stockport for about 5 years. Second job when I was in my early 20s to top up my wages so we could have nice things. Three hours every evening after finishing in Manchester. Can't say I enjoyed it. But it was a different time where we didn't get too much abuse and I was decent at it. Became a Team Leader and began to earn from my teams appointments as well as mine. Was earning more hourly than my Insurance Broker day job. And made some great friends.

That's where I was, I took my mate there too we were at Coldshield before, so he went selling I took the job as TL of the canvas team, however he was crap at selling so I'd double up with him on appointments and we would split any commission worked alright til we got busted , he sacked my mate and told me I'd have to go selling- I told him in my youthful arrogance to stick it, had to hand back my company fiesta!

Spooky I did that too out of the Bolton branch, getting a dual was the dream! Worst ones were having to do the disconnects round Little Hulton trying to get them to pay their bill to get switched back on and offering an incentive like a free month.

We're getting yet another new Covid-19 tiered system when the lockdown ends. I make this the fourth one: the initial nando's 5 level chart, then the 3 tiered one, the one we currently have which we're on tier 4 of, and this tough new one is going to have three tiers.

I don’t get the big rush to get out of lockdown for Christmas.
I’ll admit to being a bit of a scrooge but people complained about pubs being shut at 10pm joking that COVID doesn’t have a time that it needs to be in for tea. People moaned that non-essential shops were closed and that they couldn’t buy an Asda Price toaster. Yet those same people are now saying that all restrictions should be lifted for Christmas?
I appreciate for those on their own it will be an awful time of year but those people are allowed a support bubble. We’ll see mass gatherings left right and centre and post Christmas we’ll see cases on the ride. I’d rather FaceTime family members, especially those that are elderly with health problems than take the chance of passing anything on.

Agree with this, we've all missed out on so much this year, holidays, socialising, meeting loved ones/families, enjoying 'normal' life, days out, nights out, exams, new starts in life, weddings, attending funerals, visiting people in hospitals/care homes, having medical appointments postponed, special birthday celebrations etc etc... I don't think its really a big deal to continue this teired lockdown a few extra weeks after what we've already been though for the last 8 months or so, and if it means I don't physically see family over Xmas, then I'll just wait until this bleeding shitshow is well under control.

Not for much longer as the BBC is reporting "it is understood the 10pm curfew on pubs and restaurants will be altered. Mr Johnson is expected to say that, while last orders must be called at 10pm, people will get an extra hour to finish their food and drinks."
Confusingly the same article says it comes as part of a set of "tougher" restrictions. Sounds like looser restrictions to me.

Can you imagine many of those people not being out at parties on New Years Eve too, my guess is NYE will be worse than Christmas for lockdown breaches.

It will only be a matter of time before the media start whining about New Year if there is the relaxation for five days at Christmas. Tbh the government u-turn that often, I wouldn't be surprised if they got cold feet on the five days relaxation at Xmas if the figures were high nearer the time and the media started applying pressure.

Bredders, we will be in lockdown until Match. January is traditionally the worst month for respiratory disease. Do you think peeps can take it for another 3-4 months? If they are going to have a break, maybe restrict to to 24-26 Dec and 31Dec and 1 Jan. that is 5 days. The whole point of these pagan festivals was a last hurrah before the last of the hard winter months. It would be fitting.

I don’t get the big rush to get out of lockdown for Christmas. true, its not as if kids are going to miss out on their presents and you cannot get your christmas dinner with the family that live in your house. however a bit of coomon sense could be used. if a family do have a parent or grandparent that lives on their own i cannot see any problem of this one person or possibly two having christmas with their family. its the mass gathering christmas that become more and more popular which may provide a problem. a houseful of sons and daughters with their kids has become a new norm for some unlike the old days where this did not seem to happen as much. for those who are religious its a christian festival anyway. for them and the rest of us its all about the kids anyway.
