I'm back again on behalf of The Scarf Bergara Wore to discuss the man who made it all possible...🇺🇾 "..For County fans, the seismic influence which Danny had on them and the club can never be understated. He, along with the investment, time and energy from Brendan Elwood, fundamentally changed the course of County’s future, he gave us pride and respect, he made us believe in our club..." A very evocative read... I started at Edgeley on Friday nights with Go Go County under Colin Murphy & Eric Webster when 're-election' was a genuine worry each season (look it up) and Tommy Sword, Osher Williams and John Rutter were our pin-up heroes. The changes we lived through with Danny, Brendan and everyone at EP were a wonder to behold after our winters in the wilderness. Thanks for the article Dave, it all feels like a lifetime ago but Danny's smile and unique take on the game live on.

The Danny/ Elwood era defiantly increased my love for county we saw real progression on and off the field. They were brilliant days and to be honest i think it was addictive because i want it back Hopefully when the new main stand, Vernon stand, and railway end hotel is 25 years old we will be talking about the Gannon/Stott era

Perhaps someone can help me out here.... Did Danny ever come back after his sacking as a guest and was given a mic at HT to give a speech? I'm certain this happened and he said his only regret was not winning at Wembley for us.

I'm certain this happened and he said his only regret was not winning at Wembley for us. I don’t know what capacity it was in but he definitely was at EP a few years before he died, I have a strange feeling it was a home game against MK. I met him outside Cheadle End turnstiles and got him to sign my little autograph book I had which also had people like Rickie Lambert in so it was definitely that era. The only thing that makes me feel like it might have been against MK is because I feel like it was the same game that I spoke to Alby outside the players entrance and he was an injured MK player at the time. That might be two different games but given I didn’t get to many around that time and didn’t hang around at the ground very often either. Edit just checked and Alby’s time at MK never coincided with Lambert’s time at County so it wasn’t the MK game. I’m certain it was while Lambert was here and I’m sure he scored a penalty in the game. Probably 2004ish.

Yes he definitely came back and made a speech at half time, he made me laugh because with three sides of the ground chanting Danny Bergara's blue and white army, he said come on get behind the team. You were always louder away from home. Stunned silence and laughter. But a great manager all the same.

I'm not sure I remember him coming back as a guest but I'm fairly sure he came back to E.P. as manager of Doncaster. He got a rousing reception from all at E.P. IIRC.
Am I correct?
