I'm obviously no expert on this, but it makes no sense to me to have youth teams lower than under 16 level with City and United being so close. Would it not make more sense to get their cast offs in? It'd also mean we wouldn't need such a large training hub

Where could you build a new base in Stockport, then? I'd presume the flood plains around the Mersey, Tame and Goyt are out because... well, they're flood plains They specifically mention aiming for 'community facilities' so I'd presume that'd rule out anywhere in the sticks (I'm thinking out Mellor way) The land behind Bridgehall is too small if you want multiple public & private pitches. The old Adswood Brick Works? Stanley Green? Flowery Fields in Woodsmoor perhaps? It’s been rumoured to be there a few months back and having grown up 2 minutes away from those fields I’m sure it is land owned by the church that cannot be developed on although I could well be wrong.

It'd also mean we wouldn't need such a large training hub No we need it at all levels. They cast off youngsters of all ages/stages. Not to mention there's plenty of other clubs than them that sniff around and sniffle up youngsters in the Stockport and surrounding areas - the premiership types like Liverpool, Burnley, Everton. But even the likes of Rochdale etc... in fact I remember being annoyed a few years back because I'd heard Morecambe had some sort of satellite youth training/scouting centre/set-up base in Stockport. And that doesn't include youngsters that don't get picked up but drift into non-League setups or out of football altogether who may develop a lot better under a properly professional setup. I'd say it was vital we have a full and strong youth system in place. Even if it's a youngster that City or United don't think is good enough, it could still be someone we make a good whack on by selling to one of the less rich Premier clubs.

I think Mirlees own all that green land, there was talk recently about plans to build houses on it that were met with objections locally, it'd be a shame to lose it to development too. For me the old school land on the Fairway in Offerton would make for a great base for the club right in the thick of a County hotbed. It's been years since I was last on there but ended up there on a recent walk down the river and thought then it'd be an ideal spot for the club to develop.

Agree .the old fairway site (offerton) has the space for multiple pitches all on level playing fields and services already in place its not green belt (correct me if I'm wrong) .could be perfect

We're aiming to move fast though. As far as these sort of things go we need to start setting up now for when we're in League 1. We could be there in 2 or 4 years the way things are going. Not to mention a new training ground won't be in place in Stockport for 3 or 4 years. So no point thinking like we're a non-league team as by then we'll hopefully be well on our way to League 1 or even the Championship.

Looks like they're using the eastern pitch, nearest the Sale FC-owned building. The staff picture from Gannon contract article on COWS is also on that pitch. Wonder if there's problems with the pitches on 'our' side?

It can only be the fact that the ex sharks pitches have not been renovated due to their imminent departure to the complex next door if so....... thanks (sale sharks for that) your consistent with your treatment of your landlords /partners/property..... i will give you that .... if i have done you an injustice ( bollocks anyway)
