Very impressed with the way the new owners are going about their business, remember Mark Stott saying in his interview that he had been trying to get the takeover over the line for the past couple of years, & they produced an 80 page document detailing how they saw the club being run...they've gone into this in a very professional manner & are putting things in place with a quiet efficiency. Can't remember the last time i enjoyed a pre-season with so much confidence

Brilliant news. Signing of the summer, that.
The only thing I’d say is I’d have preferred it to be a five or six year deal. But I trust it’ll be extended in time.
Wilson is making all the right noises too, which is good. And pleased they’ve kept together the likes of Dave Conlon and Karl Leneghan too. Conlon in particular, as a former caretaker manager and two-time assistant, has been a great servant.

But I trust it’ll be extended in time. it also gives us and the club a bit of stability. getting a new manager once the seasons of the year change never works out. on the negative side however, just because jim has an extended contract it does not mean he will be here in 2 years time. really doubt it will happen but he could still be sacked during these 2 years.

Yeah, he could. This bunch seem to recognise his value though, and the regard he's held in. I think a lot of the good will towards Stott and Wilson will be tied to JG.

No way we should be handing out 5 years deals to anyone. I think he’ll be successful and get us back up through the leagues but why risk a huge pay out if he doesn’t? Keep reviewing progress every couple of years is a sensible strategy

I think Mark Stott has looked at what JG has achieved with next to no resources & his experience at a higher level & decided that he can achieve a lot more with a proper infastructure in place

While the majority of us are right behind Jim, there are a group of blokes who sit very close to the directors box who give him nothing but grief and Mark Stott will get to hear it, I usually go in the Cheadle End but occasionally go in the Moan Stand and on one occasion nearly ended up fighting with these clowns. Coming out of the ground that day and at a couple of away games people have approached me and told me it was about time someone had a go back at them, so it's obviously a regular thing.

Did you recognise any of them? I have heard a few people mention it.

I challenged two of them outside the mainstand myself who had been giving Jim unwarranted abuse on one of the rare times I went in there... they were quite inebriated would be polite way of putting it.

We were 2 down againsg Southport and I get that there'll be grumbles but this was on another scale, ultimately it wasn't me that shut them up, it was our equaliser.

I remember being in a spoons near Chorley station after the Chorley away match (the one in the sunshine which we lost, before spenny bailed us out the following week?) and there was a guy absolutely spitting mad about Jim. Called him 'an Irish c*nt'.... He had a few mates with him and looked absolutely terrifying so wasn't about to challenge him but it was tough to hear and just goes to show you will never please everyone, no matter what happens.
