If we start on time with fans, I will be pleasantly surprised. If we finish next season by those dates, I will be amazed. Fingers crossed.

Might get the odd positive Covid test but the players are young and fit so should be fine after a couple of weeks of isolation. Unless an outbreak happens which infects a lot of the team I would guess that the odd positive test wouldn't result in postponements etc. Probably even more of a benefit this season to have a big squad to deal with the inevitable covid positives. Starting with fans at the beginning of October looks a real stretch though. Would be absolutely amazed if that happens. There's still a thousand new cases a day! That would have to drastically drop down for it to be sensible to open up mass gatherings.

Given the precarious financial positions of most I would expect fans to be allowed back in when it starts; remember there will be significant reductions in capacity and with proper management/risk assessment it is certainly possible. 8.0.3

Fingers crossed. thats two months in the future at the moment. suppose anything could happen in the meantime. at least its a date now and not a lot of speculation. next thing we need to know what the proposed capacity of EP will be if reduced numbers are put inforce. the main problem could involve clubs in local lockdowns and others who have players found positive so unable to fulfill a fixture. knowing our luck we will end up being involved in this and end up with a fixture backlog.

To be fair 1000 positive cases a day out of the ~150k tests we carry out is well within the WHO guidance of the virus being under control.

No way will fans be allowed in. Doubt they will be allowed in when the Prem starts early September. The message coming out from Johnson and Co is that what we currently have is the furthest we can go before vaccine and schools will, rightly, get priority. Be amazed if we even start given the no fans no start comment.

Good question Timbers. The answer is none. Look at NZ for that. As long as the virus is in circulation, there will be no normality until a widely available, effective vaccine comes in. I can see us starting the season with fans in much reduced capacity grounds. However, I can see a second spike post-Crimbo and fans being barre. What happen in the NLN then? We could be a long way from the finish line. PPG again? Defer the season? Cancel it? Carry on with no fans? Who knows?
