Im SuRe ThEy'Re BoTh DeVaStAtEd!!!!!1111one!!! Is it possible to actively dislike Macc? It'd be like trying to hate a puppy. We've always had bigger fish to fry
I hate puppies. Don't mind Macc though. They're County's unofficial second team according to an online vote we did some time ago.

Just looked at the L2 table and they didn't have that bad a season on the pitch, they had 36 points which had them comfortably away from relegation. Bet Stevenage can't believe their luck. Three wins and they still stay up.

Someone pointed out that they had 17 points docked last season & Stevenage finished the season on 22

Feel for them a lot. Not sure it’s fair that the points deductions effectively get increased under PPG.
Another club as well that’s been done over by bad owners and EFL’s complete inability to protect them.

Happy to have them in our league rather than Stevenage. Feel sorry for the fans because they look like they're really in the brown stuff. Elliot Osborne must be chuffed. I'm chuffed, never mind Osborne! I was certain sure he'd score against us next season.

There seems to be some consensus on non league FB pages that there's a very real chance they'll go into admin. The League has history of this. When Boston came down in 2007, they went into admin and were put in the NLN. I hate to bring up this spectre but if that happened to Macc, would Fylde get off the hook? No i'd imagine they might promote the losing finalists, or just operate one short for a season, but Fylde finished second bottom didn't they, so they'd have no chance of being reinstated There is never a circumstance where losing finalists get promoted. They’d always reprieve relegated teams first and foremost.

I don’t have a great deal of sympathy for Macc, but they have effectively been punished twice because of PPG. They have the right to feel aggrieved.

1990, they lost the final to Swindon who were then found guilty of making illegal payments.

1990, they lost the final to Swindon who were then found guilty of making illegal payments. I was unaware of it but that’s a situation where the winning finalist broke the rules, and the losing finalist was promoted in their stead; same number of teams promoted. It’s a different precedent. They’re not going to promote an extra team over reprieving a relegated team.

Can’t say I’ve much sympathy for Macc. Though it probably screws over Stevenage as they’ve now got to put a L2 team together. Assuming we get to go to games, it’s a bit of a shitter for us too though. Even though we get a local away, I’m fairly sure Alty will play Macc rather than us at Christmas. Not sure why Alty should get Macc; Stockport is considerably closer to Macclesfield than is Altrincham. Historically, the links between Stockport and Macclesfield are more important too; just look at the respective clubs’ nicknames. (The silk from Macclesfield went on the the top hats from Stockport, Silk Road, et cetera).

Alty and Macc are historically both National League sides, though, and they are one another’s biggest rivals, so I’d be surprised if the League don’t put them together. That said, it all depends on whether we can attend anyway!
