hes a good coach. Not a good manager. He was part of a team/set up at Brighton that produce alot of good talent that went on to make the first team. He didn’t improve a single player at County The only useful thing he did is sign Will Collar

In an industry as small as football its highly unlikely someone will call a spade a spade. So we're not near the truth. I think rusk had the capacity to be liked by everyone as he didn't have a ruthless bone in his body. Chally came in out went Rooney. Got promoted palmer went eventually. If he thought it was right he'd let Ben go. Rusk strikes me as a fella who was nice to everyone that works great at development football keeping people onside. In men's football things are now brutal. The biggest shock was rusk actually played non league football but forgot about it. A case of theory against practise to compare him and DC. We should have gone in for DC in the first place and was possibly Wilson and co. biggest mistake they have made with us. I'm not convinced DC would have been on any radars when we got Rusk in. His biggest success at that level when Rusk was brought in was losing finallist with Fylde - he'd then been sacked by then and hadn't yet succeeded with Hartlepool. It was only really when he took Hartlepool up that he started appearing in conversations, among fans at least.

We would have been saying we've replaced a club legend with one of our poorer centre halves who was bankrolled at fylde (although after he left the job he did there now looks fantastic). Jury still out. Jim legend.

Rusk failed because he isn't cut out to be a first team manager, certainly not a first team manager at a club with high expectations. All Rusk had to do was get us playing good and effective football, he did neither.

Ethan Ross has had a great season at Alty, and has just won the Supporters’ PotY award; just looked at the highlights from their 1-3 play-off semi-final defeat the other day, unfortunately Ethan showed all the qualities that caused us to let him go. A shame, great lad, but he’s still flawed as a goalkeeper.

Still on goalkeepers, Vit Jaros has been doing very well on loan at Sturm Graz who are top of the Austrian Bundesliga - he’s conceded 8 in last 10 games; personally rated him higher than any other of the back-up ‘keepers brought in for Ben (Jaros got an extended run at Sturm Graz due to injury to first-choice ‘keeper).
Apparently signed a new contract at Anfield (January 2024) prior to the move to Sturm Graz which expires at the end of this season, but still clearly nowhere near Liverpool’s 1st team.
I’d certainly make enquiries about a season-long loan 2024/25.

I think Liverpool would want assurances that he's going to play at this point in his development and maybe L1 might be a bit low for him now. If Ben signs he'll rightly start as our first choice. Any loan signings that we bring in this season need to be of that calibre of Barry in that they'll make an impact and be a regular starter rather than making up the numbers on the bench.

Any loan signings that we bring in this season need to be of that calibre of Barry in that they'll make an impact and be a regular starter rather than making up the numbers on the bench. If you think that ‘…maybe L1 might be a bit low for him [Jaros] now’, that means you see him as Championship standard; in regards to your second paragraph, I do think that he is the ‘…calibre of Barry’ (ie potentially too good for League 1). On both counts - regardless of Ben (or anyone else) - I’d take the right Championship-level players on season-long loans; teams like Norwich City have used this system very effectively over the past few seasons and getting it right has been a key part of their two most recent Championship winning seasons. Agree 100% that key loan signings need to make a significant impact this time, rather than most of the youngsters we have seen over the past couple of seasons who were simply not ready and barely appeared (though I’d happily take one from Villa as part of a Louie Barry arrangement).
