I expect at least a handful of changes for us and wouldn't bet against the same for Chesterfield. They've got a long trip down to Wealdstone on Tuesday too so we get another couple of days rest as well as a full weeks preparation for the game. I expect Minihan and Keane to be rested after receiving cuts to the head, along with any other player who feels they may need a rest or has a slight niggle.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just 2 or 3 with the week's rest. Jim has said in the past how important a good cup run and keeping momentum can be - like the Trophy in our NLN winning season. Maybe JJ and MSH in, given the amount of work our wingbacks do, but Kitching and Minihan were arguably our two best players today. I wouldn't be surprised to see Reid in for Jennings and possibly Croasdale in too? I'd like to see Williams, Gilmour and Bell get some minutes too, but I suspect they would be options from the bench given their lack of match fitness - less so for Bell, but Bennett is the key link-up man for us. EDIT - I forgot Thomas! He definitely deserves some serious gametime too. Basically I don't know. Good problems to have though! I’d rest Minihan, Rooney, Maynard, Bennett and C Jennings. 343 Hinchliffe Hogan Palmer Stott MSH Croasdale Keane Kitching Thomas Bell Reid Subs Barnes J Jennings Rooney Williams Bennett

I think C Jennings will want to keep playing until he bags. He's come so close on a number of occasions. I don't think a rest would do him good at the moment.
I'd go:
Hinchliffe
Hogan Palmer Stott
MSH Croasdale Maynard Kitching
C.Jennings Bell Reid
Subs
Barnes JJ Thomas Rooney Williams

I'm sure he'd love to play but we can't ignore how he's struggled this season, if there's others who can fit that role then they deserve a chance too. It's a long season and he'll get opportunities to find form and fit back in

Good we get game as part of our package I thought that would be tough to negotiate as the revenue is split i thought convo with Chesterfield would go as thus
County "Hi Chesterfield we are going to reward our 2500 loyal season ticket holders by giving them the stream for free on saturday"
Chesterfield " like f**k you are thats about £8k in lost revenue to us!"
Wonder if Stott is subsidising it as cant imagine Chesterfield are flush with cash or would want to lose out on the revenue

Why are people so set on resting players and rotating? f*ck that.
We’re a very winnable game away from a great tie against Sunderland, Portsmouth or Hull - any of those at home and we’d likely be on proper telly. Any League One club at home and we’d have a good chance of being on telly as there’s a big chance of an upset and any other league club is a great test to see how we’re progressing. If we get some duffers then we’re hopefully a step closer to the third round and a plum draw.
We know Jim takes cup competitions seriously and I’d put money on him/the club targeting the third round this season, certainly the first round as a minimum.
League is the priority but we should be giving the FA Cup a proper go and I expect the team will reflect that.

Because winning the league is our priority. Because we have a game against one of our promotion rivals on Tuesday. Because we want to keep all the squad happy and involved and match fit. Because the season is shorter but with a similar amount of games and we don’t want our some players to be out on their feet by the end of the season.

If tiredness starts to come into play then we'll deal with it then, but it won't be three weeks into the season. We've already got the date free, by default, for the next round; and there's only 4 mid-week games between now and Christmas. If a game needs moving some time in the future there's still a good amount of space, we're a long way off any sort of backlog. And this isn't 18-19 when we're using virtually the same XI every week, we've a squad of ~18 real first-team quality players, if any side can cope with a busy schedule it's County

I still think we'll see value in giving minutes to players who haven't featured all that much recently - if someone picks up a niggle it would be better to have someone closer to being up to speed than not. It isn't like when we would drop a first teamer for someone significantly worse, we'd be dropping them for players who would make the first team without a quibble at any other time.
