Went to the supermarket after work for something to do. It was sad to see everywhere shut except for: 7, Spoons and Produce Hall.
No Enigma, no Petersgate Tap, no Remedy, no Baker’s, no Boar’s, no Project 53, no Angel, no Glass Spider....I wonder how many will open when restrictions are lifted. Heard the Arden has also closed.

Does anyone know if Robbies have pulled out of the Bulls Head refurb?

The Arden has become our go to place for lunch on Fridays - the food is superb - was shut today, but told they'll try to reopen next week.

Read a story on MEN website about one of the bars opening up a takeaway service selling bottles that he had bulk bought when they were allowed to open again after the 1st lockdown. I know its a different story, but some good posts from our friends at Atedaysaweek on social media.

So what are the latest restrictions, are pubs limited on opening hours and how many can sit together?

So what are the latest restrictions, are pubs limited on opening hours and how many can sit together? Can only open if they serve ‘substantial meals’, whatever that means. Wet pubs, so booze only, have to close. A few are trying to get pop ups set up in them to work round it but it’s going to be very hard for them.

Most places are limiting you to two hours in there too, even with your substantial meal. So you can’t go in and order a burger and then sit there for six hours.
A tapas crawl seems to be only logical option for a day out 🥳

So what are the latest restrictions, are pubs limited on opening hours and how many can sit together? Who knows anymore!! It seems likely that something has changed with the Arden suddenly not able to open.

Things were really looking up in the Market Place and surrounding environs,it really was the place to go, fantastic atmosphere and some really creative people involved. All this was pre Covid but this is a nightmare. My hope is they can somehow stumble through until spring when hopefully things may be more hopeful. The demand to go out will be huge and they will definitely benefit. On a slight tangent but there was a good interview with a Professor on Radio 4 this morning, he said the virus is hitting hard because it’s new and we’ve not adapted to it yet. The instances of reinfection have been very low, he said the combination of herd immunity and a vaccine will be the way out, let’s hope he’s right!!

I'd encourage everyone to support the independants and save the market.

If 50k a day are reckoned to have been infected with covid since March then that's nearly 10 million people minimum to date. Over the next few months then another 3/4 million will have had exposure. So in a year at least a quarter of the population will have had covid. So herd immunity without stressing the NHS?

Think there is an element of herd immunity down south with their lower infection rates so that may give us hope that it may die out or become less prevalent in the next year. Unless they stumble upon a vaccine that is probably the government's only hope for this chaos not to go on for the next couple of years.

Very sad. Had a cracking afternoon out round the market on bank holiday Sunday, did the Petersgate tap, Cracked actor, ate days a week, project 53, & the produce hall. Not a cheap day by any means but enjoyed the diversity the ale & the food & the atmosphere was good too, none of the chavvy crowd just people enjoying a relaxing drink & a bite to eat. After years in the doldrums i was really excited by what was on offer in our home town, I really hope these businesses get the help they need during these difficult times & manage to survive otherwise it's back to square one for the market place.

I know its a different story, but some good posts from our friends at Atedaysaweek on social media. It was haunting leaving site last night that only us, Produce Hall and Spoons had been open. It isn't a nice sight to see at all. Just trying to do our bit to help out even though we've got our hands tied with what we can do mostly. If I can help make a few families lives easier, I'll do that any day of the week.
