Lets look at the job he's done here. It's quite an alarming situation for him isn't it? Things go better when he does nothing and doesn't get involved. When he actually tries to do his job, he makes a catastrophic error and blows our chances of promotion along with a serious amount of his boss' money. No amount of mealy mouthed apologism will change the fact that his very existence is a net loss for his employer. He's made one big decision. We don't know whether that will prove right or wrong. To label him a 'chancer' based on that one decision is a slight stretch IMO. I said the other week, going from youth team coach to senior first team coach without taking a detour as assistant coach at a senior team seems pretty unusual to me. Add the fact that that he knows our esteemed DOF and it screams Richard Branson meme about getting the job and learning how to do it later to me. Which seems a pretty good definition of a chancer IMHO. Yes, he has badges coming out of his ears, but his performance for County shows it’s what one of my old teachers would have described as “book learning”.

I completely get the argument for a DoF. We might not need one in the National league but they are more common as you head up the leagues and more clubs are adopting that structure. If that’s where we plan to be heading then I can see with the money we’ve got, why not bring one in now.
I also don’t have an issue with all the data. I think it plays an important part of the modern game but I think the key is a part of. It shouldn’t be the be all and end all of it.
However, barring securing us some fantastic training facilities I’m struggling to see what Wilson has done so far. The recruitment strategy seems haphazard and the decision to sack Jim was just ridiculous. Then the appointment of Rusk was a huge gamble when there were a lot of other candidates that would offer more experience and probably would have hit the ground running.
I don’t think there’s any point getting rid at this stage but if we fail to make the play offs this season, if I was Stott I’d be saying goodbye in the summer.

one of those jobs where no one really pays attention to the output Granted I’m not a businessman but why would any serious business take on something without caring about its outcomes?

What’s the salary of a manager in the fifth tier? Obviously big variances between us/Notts County and Weymouth etc, but what are we looking at?
£50k? £100k? £200k? More?

Probably more they’ve been taken in by a very impressive pitch and don’t really have a way of measuring success, rather than not caring.

Even first-year undergrads know that you shouldn’t start something until you know how to measure its outcomes. What exactly did Wilson learn at uni!?

Thanks for the research which has uncovered these pearls of wisdom. Absolute boll**s most of it, of course. But it seems to me that Wilson has spent more time on these webinar things and the like than he has in communicating with the fans of SCFC. I become increasingly confident that this job was intended as a stepping stone for Wilson to greater things. We were but a temporary step on the ladder to greatness in the game. Pity for him, and absolutely devastating for us, that he's made such a pigs ear of it. His CV will be looking a little sorry right at this moment. But we can always content ourselves that, snake oil salesman that he is, his silver tongue will seduce some other poor soul ... let's hope that it's sooner rather than later.

Couldn't help but feel that way myself. He will be off as soon as there is a better offer. The only positive I can take from this 21st Club thing is that they are heavily involved with Brentford. There's some stuff in here that would have been great to hear through the club. I also wonder how much his line management (who is that?) know about him doing this sort of stuff.

But it doesn’t make sense. How is a Division 5 club a stepping stone for someone who’s worked for Southampton, Citeh, and Barcelona?
