Second half was great, absolutely battered them and tbf, their keeper had made a couple of outstanding saves. But ultimately not good enough proper dreadful fodder. I don’t think we’re quite good enough to go and win the play offs, we’ve only won more than two in a row on one occasion under Rusk so not sure we’re quite at the level required. Whatever happens tomorrow, we need to win next week at Yeovil. Yep, I think I've made my peace with the idea that this isn't our year

First half team was definitely all wrong - lost count of the number of times we had three players out wide and nobody in the middle, as well as the obvious ball not sticking up front that we all knew would happen.
Second half much better - must admit I thought Bennett’s goal looked good from LT2, but obviously haven’t seen a replay yet. Couple of excellent saves, and a couple of times missing the target when hitting it would have scored too. Very much not our day in that sense, particularly given how beautifully they played the ref all game.
MSH probably our best player I thought - even more rapid in real life than he looks on the streams.
The not so good sign is that some of our most reliable players all season look to be taking a small dip in form at the very worst point of the season. Hogan / Croasdale/ Jennings / Reid all did fine, but didn’t hit the heights they were getting to a month or so ago.
Still think we’ll hold on to 3rd, but can’t see us winning the playoffs right now - Nothing majorly wrong, but just too many little things not quite firing. In conjunction with our poor results against the top sides, I’m just not confident.

Their time wasting and feigning injury is an utter pisstake. He completely allowed them to control the tempo of the game, utterly incompetent performance.

Rusk has to take some blame for not starting Bennett - tried to be too clever and it backfired but fair to him for changing it at HT and admitting he had ballsed it up. Thought Rooney was very good today - the crowd gave him an extra edge. Hogan in the first half was all over the shop and Jennings has this awful habit he’s developed recently where he lets a player run 20 yards rather than engage with him and we’re very lucky it hasn’t cost us a goal yet. I liked your comment cos I agree Bennett should’ve started, but I can’t agree on Rooney. He was brilliant for 20 minutes, and then did nowt. Like I said, though, steaming, so maybe am talking shite.

We might not bottle it then!

Think that 2nd half was the closest I've seen someone, any team, come to scoring without finding the back of the net. Woodwork 3 times. Croasdale a Reid had massive chances. Countless half chances and corners. Madness. That's pretty much my thoughts. And I'm actually too emotionally exhausted now to add any of my own. I do still think we'll go to Yeovil and win. And I can't see Sutton failing to get at least the point they need in front of their fans tomorrow. So maybe today's point might feel like one gained rather than two lost this time next week. Just got to hope so.

Yep, I think I've made my peace with the idea that this isn't our year Would be good if the players thought that. We might not bottle it then! Play offs are a lottery at the best of times so we could go and win them or lose the first game we have to play. All in all I don't think we will be good enough this time round, especially if we are missing Madden.

All in all I don't think we will be good enough this time round, especially if we are missing Madden. The one hopeful thought I keep going back to is we are clearly very hard to beat. And if we can just keep doing this thing of not losing, then sooner or later we get out of this league. I'm not sure if I'll have any hair left by the end of it though because I feel like if we get out now it will be by the absolute skin of our teeth.

My two tests for the playoffs were winning three on the bounce - which we’ve done under both managers - and win after going behind which we haven’t done yet under Rusk, and only once I think under Gannon.
Maybe we’ll get good at penalties…

Forget the result / ok performance (which was ok but not great)...I just loved watching the stream with a crowd there...and loved having a few beers with some good mates that have not seen for a while...

Still think Sutton will win or draw tomorrow but we’re struggling at the moment. We need to move up a few gears for the playoffs. -- The gears are OK; its the steering that is the problem. Has been all season. We are lucky to be in the position we are in today.

Well that was frustrating. First half Rusk got it wrong. Apparently Cardwell was having a fitness test as late as 1.30pm, so when he failed that surely the obvious change was to start Bennett instead.
Doing what we did left Reid isolated and ineffective, and we ended up at times with Jennings, Rydel and Walker trying to occupy the same space on the left.
Hogan in particular was poor, he barely completed a pass in the first half and defensively we looked a bit all over the place at times. I think he and some of the other players were trying to hard to force it in front of fans.
The half time change made a big difference, I thought Bennett was good and it help bring Reid into the game. We battered them really in the second half and should have won it.

Agreed the first half was abysmal and not for the first time the managers have got to do better. Picking lob sided teams is a recurring theme and I did not hear SR taking public responsibility for it either.
The other recurring issue is drawing at home/not having complete control of a game against a team who in this case were useless. There has to be a review of why we haven’t won many home games this year as it is imho to do with the set up particularly in midfield and not personnel based.
Lost control of our play off position now. I still think Torquay will piss the play offs but they are cagey affairs and I will be rubbing my lamp tonight.
