That Robinsons idea is a great one. A cask ale and bottles with the proceeds going to the campaign would be a winner all round!

The thing is, if there's no time limit then it'll get there eventually as long as it's regularly promoted. People will likely put in multiple times. It does need something to drive it though, rather than just expecting to raise £50k through goodwill and bucket rattling. Durango is right about a friendly, and I think TRE mentioned something about some merchandise or something to raise funds, that's a great idea. Has an auction been considered? Get people to donate some items (and get the club to weigh in with some prizes) and get them auctioned off. Have Robbie's been approached? Danny's teams did so much to promote the brewery across the country, even across the world. I'd worry about just hoping it'll organically hit £50k through donations, we could still be here in ten years. And of course if it does take several years to reach the target surely there’s a chance that the cost will have risen ? It does need to be pushed fast and hard.

I'd worry about just hoping it'll organically hit £50k through donations, we could still be here in ten years. I've mentioned in an earlier post that the Co-op and Help the Hatters will be doing a number of initiatives to boost the fund. There is a County calendar which we are working on, we will do some auctions, a legends friendly, an evening for Danny, donate the proceeds from the Hatters Half and we're happy to work with Durango on some T-shirt designs. A brochure will be produced which will be handed out on a match day and a separate approach will be made to sponsors. Robbies is a good shout and I can have a word. They've worked with the Co-op on the first three Hatters Half. We will write to the various Area Committees to see if they can help with some funding.
Got to admit though, it's disappointing that more fans haven't got behind this. We've put a lot of work into producing a really good website, putting in £4k, collaborating with Phil Brennan on the copy, who wrote the excellent 'Man from Uruguay' book about Danny and getting the story out into the media.

This is a brilliant idea, should definitely be given time to run because obviously money's tight for some at the moment and these things take time. Would be good to draw attention to the campaign at home games where we'll be expecting the larger attendances, even if it's just someone with a bucket near the ticket office (Although not sure anyone carries cash anymore). hope people do not get too upset if the money comes in slowly after an initial quick spell. always remember any of our fanbase who are under their early 30,s will have never seen danny or remember a side that played under him. all they have are the articles and fans stories about him. its same as for us who remember him but not people who have played or managed us before our first County game. i,ll put to the danny statue but certainly would have no interest in it if i was not around in those days. You raise a good point about the ages of fans who remember Danny, as its the best part of 25 years ago since he managed us, and therefore many fans aged around 35 or under won't remember watching a Danny team. I think we have always struggled to raise funds for things since the administration era (GFAP etc), however can you imagine any young Liverpool/United fan not having it drummed into their head about how important Shankly/Busby was to their history? One of the highlights of that shite play off game for me was the rallying call by Steve Bellis, and the chanting of Danny Bergaras blue and white army afterwards.... we really do need to promote it so much more, and get in into the heads of younger fans how important Danny was to our club. I really hope we reach this target in 12 months time and urge every County fan just to donate a couple of quid every month... as I've said previous, if 4000 donated £1 a month then its 48k in a year... if 2000 donate £2 a month then same figure.. if 1000 cancel skysports for a month whilst no football on then thats 25k in a month... come on folks, let's get this done!!

I'm pretty shocked that in the first week only 44 people have chipped in Less than 1% of average home crowd has donated Everyone who is keen on this idea will, have a reason why they've not donated... some will be skint, some waiting for payday, some won't have heard of it yet, some waiting for maybe merchandise to support the fund, some still umming and arring about how much to donate, some maybe waiting for a push to gee up the fund? I dunno, we're all different. I'll be donating in a week or so

Long overdue Where would it likely be put?
Agree Count, this tribute is definitely long overdue! 🇺🇾
The statue is likely to be located next to the Cheadle End, within the secure car park.
Club have agreed to this.
RH I’ve just received Ryan Croasdales home shirt as part of last years sponsorship deal, happy to donate it to the Coop to raffle/auction in support of this appeal.

We will be doing a number of "Make us an offer" auctions and that would be a big help!
Will send you a PM with my email address.

It might seem a little uninspiring but how about good old bucket collections? If we get a decent home game at the beginning of the season there could well be a decent crowd there.
