I did ironically Google dressing room daddies last night to see if it's a common used phrase in football psychology. Everything which comes up looks to be a gay porno. "That my excuse and im sticking to it"

I’d agree with that. I think we all knew this league was the toughest to get out of and would also require the most amount of cash to do so. I still think the squad we have is more than capable. It just needs the right manager now. Possibly also for the DoF to find some middle ground where he’s neither too hands-on (as he supposedly was with JG) nor too hands-off (as he seems to be with SR at the moment based on what he said about strategy and recruitment). ‘Cos it ain’t workin’… Agree on this - I don't think we really know where the line is drawn currently, but my hope is that we get in a manager either used to dealing with the role, or one who stands their ground better with what they've assigned up for.

"That my excuse and im sticking to it" I Misread it as “gay panto” first time around, which actually sounds like fun in a Frankie Howerd kind of way. Glad I checked before I had a look for myself!

BTW, SW also said that his due diligence on the takeover identified that half of teams that get promoted from the National League go up to League One straight after. Is that true? It would certainly explain the eagerness to make some of the signings we have, even though they now risk being more like millstones than assets, Yeah, quite a few end up going up either straight after promotion or the season after. Just looking at records - Yeovil, Carlisle, Hereford, Exeter, Stevenage, Fleetwood, Bristol R, Lincoln and Tranmere all seem to have gone up within two seasons of promotion from the national league. Think Luton and Doncaster were all after three seasons in League 2. League 2 is definitely the easiest league to get out of with four promotion places. Wycombe, Macc, Barnet, Cheltenham, Darlington, Burton...

Definitely looking more and more like a great strategy poorly executed, then… Dave Jones team was filled with players bought for the League above, that strategy is perfectly sensible, but giving this squad to Rusk is like giving a Ferrari to a Learner Driver. And Dave Jones has the best points per game as a County manager Games Won Lost Drawn Points Points/Game Jones 117 49% 24% 27% 203 1.74

Dave Jones team was largely built around players hungry to play at a higher level though, as loads of them did, they were mostly rejects from bigger clubs with a point to prove, not sure that applies to so many now, especially the senior players, which might be the crucial bit

The odd old head like Andy Mutch but most of them were in their mid twenties and eager to get back up the leagues which they did. Now we're lumbered with older players who'll have no resale value when their contracts end and can just use us as a last payday.
