More optimistic signs that things are starting to pick up elsewhere in Stockport, this time not too far from EP.
A third large office block AND a new 400-space multi-storey car park are now scheduled to be built in the Stockport Exchange development... I think the car park will be situated between the existing one (next to the station) and the rear of the former Infirmary building. The offices are going on part of the current open car park... and I assume there will now be no problem with constructing a fourth block in due course on the rest of it.
Eventual plans are I think for seven blocks in total, stretching down to and along the A6.
The amount of investment in infrastructure is huge, and very encouraging for the future. Plus will also really improve the streetscape in that part of town. All IMHO, of course.

Good to see, some will still complain that the council do nothing.

It’s all positive news. Saw that Where the Light gets in are planning on opening a new bakery, wine and pizza place.
Hopefully a successful football team will play its part in driving the investment and regeneration in the area.

Which is why I'm still optimistic about the club being able to buy/develop the ?derelict Bungalow and the former bowling club, now used to store containers. There are better and more desirable uses for that particular bit of land!
...and another restaurant opening in Underbank, in the restored Winters building:

I'm coming back in August and looking forward to a wander round the town. You managing to fit a game in Vicar? I hope so! I've done better than that we've bought season tickets, my wife being Danish can't stay out of the UK for more than two years, the problem now is for me to keep my Spanish residency I can't stay out of Spain for more than 6 months, it used to be so easy.

Ah now that is proper. Good to know you'll be getting a decent helping of County. Agreed with you on the ridiculous implications of Brexit though. God help us.

More office blocks being built? I thought that more companies had office staff working from home these days and were looking at continuing this to reduce costs of renting buildings?
I've no experience of office work at all, so are companies that still rent office space looking to rent in cheaper areas like Stockport, than in the centre of Manchester?
Apologise in advance for not having a clue about this stuff.

I've no experience of office work at all, so are companies that still rent office space looking to rent in cheaper areas like Stockport, than in the centre of Manchester? Apologise in advance for not having a clue about this stuff. A few comments below... 1. Businesses want new offices rather than old offices. Land prices and rents are generally cheaper outside of Manchester as well. Of all the towns/conurbations outside of the city centre, Stockport has by far the best transport links - for getting into and out of Manchester - and amongst the most affluent local population. 2. Offices are still vital, but the space is being used differently. You might get a slight reduction in floor space, but offices tend now have more usable common spaces with m within the building/co-working spaces within a business's own office. 3. The focus the town has placed on destination building and 'location' has shown itself it to be a big success, and more businesses moving in will mean more people moving in... the cycle drives itself (with people wanting a better work/life balance - being able to get what they want/do what they need/want to do without a commute). The residential developments around the town centre will form a key part of that. All very exciting!

I agree with most of what you say but Stockport property prices are higher than Manchester, of the 10 authorities in Greater Manchester only Trafford has higher property prices.

Not compared to Manchester City Centre they're not.
