Not quite a development, but does anyone remember what that great big pub in Adswood was called? Are you sure it wasn't in Salford?

I know they started work in there after the pandemic but they seem to have gone off the idea again, it's a great old building but what we don't want is Robbies putting someone in who's idea to fill the place is karaoke and northern soul, it's better staying closed and letting the independants get on with it. Can't understand why the bulls head hasnt reopened. A Robinsons pub would do very well in the Markets nowadays The Bulls Head was supposed to reopen in 2020 I think, then covid obviously happened so I guess its been paused while they see how nightlife recovers.

Sad news that Winters has had to close due to running costs being 5 times more than when they opened a year ago, it must be heartbreaking for them after the time and money they've put into the place, how is anyone surviving under these conditions?

On the one hand Greater Manchester Town of Culture, on the other places shutting down with alarming regularity. For small businesses and the man in the street it feels like we've been repeatedly kicked for about 5 years now. Adding to personal debt and/or accessing pension funds early as many are doing will keep many in relative poverty for years to come. And that's where they want us. We're definitely being kept in our place.

Sad news that Winters has had to close due to running costs being 5 times more than when they opened a year ago, it must be heartbreaking for them after the time and money they've put into the place, how is anyone surviving under these conditions? That's really sad news, I hadn't eaten there but was on my list of places to do & people I know who'd been said it was excellent, they'd done a superb job of restoring the clock as well. The current situation is really really frustrating, after years in the doldrums the market place & underbank looked to be coming back to life with a plethora of exciting venues, then covid hit followed by the financial crisis. Unfortunately whilst the various bars & eateries that have opened are decent they're also on the more expensive side & people just haven't got the spare money anymore to enjoy these places on a regular basis. I like a drink & trying different eateries but we're really feeling the pinch now in our household & unfortunately if we want to go for a social drink we're having to veer towards the cheaper end of the scale like weatherspoons or a greene king, paying £3 for a drink rather than £6. This depresses me as it's sad not being able to support the smaller & infinitely more enjoyable venues that bring character to our town rather than drinking in bland soulless holes because of financial constraints. I really hope something changes for the better before the end of the year or else I fear Stockport centre will revert to being a ghost town again.

Genuinely gutted about winters. Been a few times and always left happy. One of the best restaurants around.

Thirst Class closing too.... Terrible news, sat in a campsite in France with some Thirst class in the cooler, always excellent beer, sometimes absolutely top notch, will need to stick up on Imperial Brown Ale and Barley Wine

I've only been the once and it was excellent, I just don't see how independants can survive with the cost of borrowing and the cost of everything rising, this isn't a local thing it's happening across the country.
