Good video that.. think planning permission for that building has gone through, although I maybe wrong.

Yeah pretty sure planning has been approved now. The entire Weir Mill project was reliant on it going ahead. For me if you want to look at the viaduct just look slightly to the left or right of the new flats.

It’s horrible, everything else is great. But that so close and dominating is truly awful.

It just won't have the same effect, the development is great but that bock of flats shouldn't be there.

As it says in the report the numbers are skewed for various reasons. Stockport also had an awful lot of shops compared to many towns in the region, along with Bolton it was a massive regional shopping centre.

it's basically a slightly different way of measuring the fact that Stockport has too much retail space for the modern era, and it takes time for that space to be turned into something else instead.
It's happening, with things like the old Sainsbury's unit becoming residential, and the office space replacing M&S, but it's not a short process.

What's the betting when the millennial's grandkids are adults they'll be craving for A (singular) shop to go too after decades of souless on line purchasing drives them into wanting change!

Also already happening.
The difference is they're using shops that provide an 'experience' of some description.
Afflecks / little independent deli / bookshop with cafe on the side, rather than BHS / M&S / Sports Direct essentially.

Anyone know if the Bulls head in the Markets is still reopening? As far as we're aware, yes. It's still in the pipeline for a Spring opening according to word on the street.

I never thought I'd say it but I missed that this year, I used to go into Debenhams or M&S and buy a load of stuff, there'd be Christmas songs playing in store and I felt a strange kind of satisfaction loading it all in my boot, shopping has always been a chore for me but I do think we've lost something, I went to Handforth Dean but it's cold and purely functional, you can't get a pint either.

Yes utterly soulless, and places like the Trafford Centre are equally grim although you can get a pint albeit a bland one in that Pub there.
