That's a very nearly perfectly executed off-side trap is that. Full backs should never be behind CBS when playing a line. They can see across the pitch. No excuses - that was dreadful from MSH. The first goal was Hogan’s fault. There should have been no free kick given away (Jimbo’s Rule). However, Our goalie shouldn’t be allowing shots like that in. Finally, the second goal was terrible. A simple one two to get in behind a packed defence and none of the 3 CBs there to cut it out at the near post (as Stranded mentions elsewhere). If we carry on the way we are going, players getting worse, confidence draining, players bickering on the pitch, an inability to adapt during a game when things not going our way, can’t score, shipping goals against mediocre teams etc we will be getting out off-the-peg NL, just not at the end we anticipated. Sadly SR seems to have lost the fans and the players. Nice bloke, but a square peg in a round hole. That stupid lying down behind the wall thing has to stop too. How many times has a non-league player slipped the ball under a jumping wall? I’ve never seen it happen in any of our games ever, in almost 30 years. Do they think they’re playing in the Champions League? And to make it worse, our most dangerous and quick player is the one lying down, effectively making him redundant in a counter attack. It’s idiotic. I don’t blame MSH for it, he’ll just be following instructions.

I've watched the second one back a couple of times and it's painful. We end up with 11 men behind the ball, they play two one-twos to get round FOUR of our defenders and then not one of the THREE central defenders get ahead of the Halifax player to block the cross. This is f*cking schoolboy stuff this and the less said about the line for the 3rd as suedehead mentioned the better. Agree totally but the first of the three is just as bad - Warby had passed it into the net - it’s horrendous from Ben, bizzarely standing in the middle of his goal and then not being able to get down to a free kick that wasn’t at any great pace and didn’t even go right into the corner. If I remember rightly, Dagenham also scored at his side from a free kick on the opening day. If it had been our summer signing in goal he’d have been slated for both of them. And don't forget the Hartlepool goal in the playoff game .just as bad if not worse

Here is the rub. We did have chances in the first 41 minutes but under this manager even if we had scored we would have retreated and tried to hold on with something called game management. Halifax went 1 up and took it to us and deservedly got 2 more Every part of our planning is flawed.

Just read elsewhere that it wasn’t JK interviewing Rusk post-match. I wonder why?

He just quotes his thoughts and ends questions with “ wasn’t it?” and “didn’t it?” so there are no questions to answer. Just as bad as JK but in a different way. In fairness to JK he was fairly scathing of the performance throughout the second half in particular (by his standards).

Dinning did it for us a couple of times but yeah, it's ridiculous and it makes it all the more embarrassing when the free kick still ends up in the back of our net. Agree about MSH being the one lying on the floor too, he's our only outlet and we're taking him out of the game for something that is demonstrably pointless.

Statistics seldom lie and 4 goals in now 7 games is dire. Two of those against a team that ended up with 9 men. As blindingly obvious as it is, you don't win games without scoring goals and you certainly don't entertain with this cagey slow football. Personally, I think the squad is probably as bored with the lifeless tactics as we are ! Mark Stott needs to be asking some serious questions now. There is too much non-playing overhead and not enough relevant managerial gumption or motivational skills which are more important at this level. The plays don't lack character, otherwise they won't have done well elsewhwere, they lack decisive leadership and a route to enjoy their football.

Ben is just another player heading backwards under this embarrassing set up I’m afraid. All confidence being drained by the day. Or is ben just thinking of all the overtime he could be getting driving his wagon and having to put up with this week in week out. Just wonder if the full interest in the game has dropped slightly.

Wasnt there yesterday was on way back from Lake District and approaching Manchester around 1pm very nearly hopped on the train to Halifax, thank god i decided against it!
Just from all the games so far though its plain to see the whole side lacks a presence, no presence upfront to bring best out in Madden
Zero presence and drive in midfield to dictate the game and provide ample protection to backline or give any significant supply to the frontline, i've shouted til the cows come home on here that will get nowhere with Collar and Croasdale in there, no pace or dynamism, Collar has to be the most identity less midfielder weve had, not a good holding player, not a box to box player, not an attacking midfielder, just meh in all facets which contributes to being bobbins overall, Croasdale just rats around with little quality, cant pass to save his life, no pace, the best midfielders even at this level should be capable of receiving the ball in tight situations and shifting it on quickly, thats how you stretch teams, he poos his pants and plays the negative ball back to Hinchliffe or gets caught in possesion like he did in lead up the 3rd against Yeovil
Backline Hogan has been an aberration this year and too rash, makes all the right noises in his interviews and generally articulates himself well but is not leading by example on the pitch by any stretch and one of first to call out others for his own shortcomings
Rusk said Fryers was 50/50 for the game same as Raikhy last week, did he not learn his lesson with Quigley and Raikhy last week to pick a half fit player? which brings me onto Fryers seems a panic buy only played just over 90 games in a 10 year career for a reason, does nobody vet these players backgrounds before brought in just as a name, look at profile generally players careers are on a downward spiral for a reason!
Upfront we have Reid and Madden who just dont compliment each other its one or the other with a player capable of bringing them into play alongside them, Reid is a big lad but very weak in physical battles but we should know what his limitations are and Paddy must be so frustrated with the constant shite being pumped up to him, the German lad not in squad again not having he is injured there is a pic on twitter of him getting off the coach in his training kit before game so he's obv fit to play but deemed unselectable, havent even seen him play as id gone to pub before he came on vs Yeovil, but surely if bring him in you should use him or at least be on the bench as an option to change things up
All calls to go 442 and suggestion is it made us worse yesterday, even had Whitfield's girlfriend tweeting clubs account saying has he been brought on yet, he'd been on 20 mins and being completely anonymous that even his biggest supporter didnt notice haha
It feels almost like team we built under McIlroy we dont seem to have much height or presence in the right areas, lack of pace and drive throughout the team
We have players that aren't battle hardened enough for this division likes of Fish and Raikhy arent going to be options we need to get us out the mire, need your proper hardened National League players through spine of your side at this level and some proper character, then add the so called extra quality alongside them to supplement the spine
The recruitment and profile of the squad is utterly scandalous given the outlay, the problem is there is so many within the structure that who is ultimately accountable gets diluted, but you'd have to say Wilson and Rusk will have to bear the brunt of this and maybe a simplified structure sack off DOF and 3 assistants on the bench, back a proper manager to make his own decisions on players with a bit of help from scouting network, so there can be no doubts the buck stops with them
Cos the team we have now lacks any identity of what it is we are trying to achieve, its rudderless, lacks leadership, powderpuff and goes missing at the first sign of adversity hence why folded so cheaply and tamely yesterday, pull your sleeves up and accept not everything in a game will go your way and find, some, heart and pride the type of things money cant buy, but make sure we are doing some proper diligence on the type of player and character we are bringing into the club that will provide the effort and desire the fans deserve and Mark Stott deserves too given his willingness to invest
We are miles off the pace in a lot of areas and dont think its knee jerk to say a change is needed, as title hopes have probably already gone, so time to act before playoffs become a pipe dream and season is a write off as a whole

I heard Sam apologise to JK for his negative post match summary! JK said its ok, definitely propaganda FM!!

What a massive difference between the clubs, Halifax managing on a shoestring with gates of 1500 and us with gates over 5000 with massive investment, Pete Wild has done a great job there considering he constantly loses his best players, surely Stott can see the glaringly obvious shortcomings in our set up.
