That the players have been spoilt?
Facilities that are far to good for this level (Training Ground etc) Contracts and wages that make them feel too secure

The problem is lack of effective leadership. That has to change very quickly.

Effective leadership is needed on and off the pitch.

I think there’s far too many players who think they’ve made it, who in the 96/7 team didn’t have the burning ambition to progress in the game? Andy Mitch, but he never lacked for effort, John Jeffers probably knew he wasn’t going to get much further, that’s be about it, and those 2 didn’t play that much

None of these. Their skills and sense of purpose have not been nurtured and the system they have to play should have been left on Mars. Their only failing is that they have not conjured up their own system and played to it for their benefit and that of the fans who, currently, are disillusioned to the point of absenting themselves from the matches.

Any half decent players should be able to figure plenty for themselves, I’ve never played a proper game of football in my life, even I can see that passing it around the back 4 for a while followed by lumping it towards Paddy Madden doesn’t work, they should be perfectly capable of trying something else even if the manager doesn’t tell them to.

Seeing some of them on Instagram, you’re definitely right in thinking that they think they’re big time rather than playing for a 5th division team.
I don’t begrudge any footballer (or anyone) earning what they can, even the Uber rich £300k a week crowd. But don’t be flaunting your new penthouse pad, 20 plate Mercs and multiple new pairs of £150 trainers several times a week if we’re struggling in non-league.

That’s not just limited to County players though is it. It’s the sad world we live in with influencers and others just trying to outdo each other by showing off what they have. Sad state of affairs.

Hope they are enjoying showing while they can because none of our squad will be getting another contract on similar or better money either here or elsewhere based on this season so far. As you know Suedehead It’s also a lot of the older guard and Reid who are constantly out getting pissed often after defeats like yesterday and flaunting their footballer lifestyles.

That the players have been spoilt? Facilities that are far to good for this level (Training Ground etc) Contracts and wages that make them feel too secure Lucrative, long-term contracts, no affinity to the manager, to Stockport or to County. Those things don't help. Some of the players are exempt from that before anyone jumps on me (Sam, Ash, etc) as they've done it the hard way. I've no doubt that the cultural differences were a lot to do with Jim wanting more out of his players, criticising and shouting every now again. You know the things managers have done through the years to squeeze more out of players (and I'm not talking bullying tactics). That's why they didn't like Jim and they'll be taking the p*ss out of Rusk. Sadly I think any manager will struggle to turn this lot around if the culture remains as it is.

Yep it’s a fair comment that it’s the old guard plus Reid. Does make me like Reid more that he’s slotted in with that crowd… don’t know why, just does. I’m not sure much of it is flaunting though, looks like pretty standard nights out and clobber for the weekend millionaires that exist in every line of work nowadays. Car will be on lease and I’m pretty sure the flat is Stott’s.

Minihan posts a lot but only really standard 20-something lad stuff out in bars, can’t really remember Hinchliffe or Palmer ever posting anything tbh. Tbh, don’t even know why I posted that earlier. If I was Alex Reid I’d probably be doing exactly the same as he is. Except living in town. Sod that. I quite happily lived on the edge of Zone 1 in London for four years but always found central Manchester hard work.

Tbf to the old guard, they were out last night for Keano's birthday. Plus Palmer and Keane have been easily our best players this season.
The problem with the club is the fact that we have a director of football that wants to run things his way, by signing older pros and young loanees from Premier League teams. We no longer have many players who fully understand what playing for Stockport County means. The culture these new players have brought in isn't one that will be successful IMO.

I haven’t really got a problem with it but just think if it was a different group of players it might be seen differently.

There’s a double standard when it come to this, old players tales are hilarious / current players are a disgrace
