I’m afraid I have become totally ambivalent to any new manager . Completely depressed by the JG v SR debates month after month. I struggle to understand how anybody can defend the brand of pointless football. Until the organ grinder gets shown the door we will get similar monkeys . My interest in County really kick started again under JG, was further ignited by MS but what I’ve seen since which accounts to bluster and a really shite team where crazy Money has been thrown at it has virtually extinguished that interest.
The whole lot of them are playing games with County and the Club has gone backwards. Such a shame

I would usually agree, but what is the actual reason we dislike him? Other than him being a bit bitter about those transfers a few years back, is it not just because he generally had the beating of us? I don't dislike him at all, I just don't know why we would think Stockport Town's manager is the man to revive our season, I've been to watch them a few times and he barely does anything from the sidelines, just stands there and shouts at the ref and calling players by their numbers. And it would be another example of the board giving jobs to their mates. Fair enough reasons. Not saying I’d want him by the way!

I think the best we can hope for at this point is that Mark Stott has lost some confidence in Wilson, I don't expect Wilson to go any time soon but if Stott puts a muzzle on him and pulls him well back from first team management we'd be in much better shape.

My guess is that our next manager will be another random appointment Doubt any decent experienced manager will be happy to work within the confines of the set up of the club - most would want full control and won't want to play 2nd fiddle to Wilson who clearly holds the power What confines are they? A DOF? If so a lot more and clubs have them now outside of the Premier League. Wrexham have one in our league, Newport have a sporting director and I’m sure there are plenty of others and it didn’t put off their managers. A big budget and an ambitious club it’s a job lots of talented managers would be interested in.

Chatham Town have a DoF too and they are four levels below us. If that's what's constricting us then it's the postholder rather than the post itself.

Ryan Lowe, another ambitious one. Yeah, definitely! "Lowe's managerial style has been influenced by Jürgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola, Rafa Benítez and Lowe's long-time friend Steven Gerrard, among others. He is attack-minded, and Bury in 2018-19 were one of the Football League's highest-scoring teams; their style, described as "gung-ho", soon brought success as the club finished second in League Two and earned promotion back to League One." WIKI But why would he leave Plymouth Argyle?

However, each will have a different role depending upon their experience but also on what their job specification is in their contract. As I understand it, Wilson suggested to Mr Stott that he should become interested in buying Stockport County —and the rest is (recent) history. So he would seem not to be your average DOF.

Yeah, Lowe already dropped a division to join Plymouth, even though that move made sense, I doubt you can drop two more divisions two years later and still be taken seriously by potential future employers.

He's got Plymouth flying in League One, if he comes here to sit with Simon Wilson looking at spreadsheets then I'd question his sanity.
We're not going to get someone like him, or Paul Cook. We're in non league.

We're in non league. Agree it’s highly unlikely but then we didn’t think we’d be signing the likes of Madden, MSH, Rooney and Quigley etc. Stott will clearly invest in quality if it’s available.

There’s a difference between picking up a footballer in the twilight of their career looking for one last pay packet and pulling down a manager whose stock is rising. MSH was exactly the sort of player you would expect, he’d have gone to Hartlepool if he hadn’t come to us.

We're in non league. Exactly, employed league 1 managers aren’t dropping to this level. I’ve had a quick think on who realistically we could go for and to be fair it’s not easy. Although we do have someone getting paid handsomely to make these decisions. My shortlist would look something like; Sam Ricketts John Askey John McGreal Pete Wild Daryl McMahon Interview them all, see who’s realistic who’s not and do some proper due diligence. See who’s going to fit in with the short, mid and long term plan. The next appointment will really shape how the ‘Stott project’ goes.
