Won playoffs with Colwyn Bay in 2011, Fylde in 2014 and Hartlepool in 2021 He mentioned in one of his interviews that he's lost in them too. Yeah sorry, just checked, seems he also had unsuccessful PO campaigns in 2013, 15, 16, 18 and 19

This could give us an edge as he must know what and what not to do in a tense important one off game as a manager.

Thought I'd look up Paul Simpson's playoff credentials. This is from that bastion of reliability, Wikipedia:
2008: lost (Shrewsbury) 2013: lost (Derby, as Steve McLaren's assistant)
I also learned that his son is our head of performance

An incredible record. Nine playoff campaigns (including this one) and three automatics 2012, 2017 and 2022) in 13 seasons. The only exception is the curtailed PPG 19-20 season in which he was sacked by Flyde in October (I wonder if they regretted not sticking with him!) and took over at 13th place Hartlepool a month later.

You would have thought he,d have had some credit in the bank to allow him to continue at fylde a lot longer than he did. suppose it was what was expected from that clown of an owner they have.

For the tactics geeks among you, I found this article on how Brighton’s tactics have evolved under De Zerbi quite interesting, for three reasons: 1. It’s clear Rusk was trying to build a possession-based system like Potter’s, but totally lacked the nous to do it, rendering us really slow and passive. 2. Challinor has made us more attacking and direct but, particularly this season, we’ve felt a bit stodgy. I wonder if we could/might copy Brighton’s move from a back three to a 4-2-3-1 with three mobile playmakers, plus an emphasis on moving the ball forward as quickly as possible through short passing, with lots of bodies in support. 3. It’s just an interesting article in general, even for people who don’t feel the need to read everything through the lens of County, unlike me! sport.optus.com.au/news/premier-league/os55450/analysis-tactics-brighton-roberto-de-zerbi-jurgen-klopp-pep-guardiola-pervis-estupinian-kaoru-mitoma#:~:text=De%20Zerbi%20uses%20possession%20partly,final%20third%20in%20large%20numbers.
