So because Bogie failed all proven managers will automatically fail will they? More chance of success than no one that hasn't managed a single game in this division yet some make throwaway comments about Jim Gannon being 'the best at this level' Its simply fantasy. Go on then, three lists, a list of the top half dozen managers 'at this level'. A list of the top 1/2 dozen managers 'at this level' who are available and finally a list of the top 1/2 dozen managers 'at this level' who are available and would probably accept the offer of a job from a McKnob. A name can feature on more than one list. Good luck with list number 3.

Two obvious upgrades on Jim.
Gary Lowe
The appointment we should have made back when Jim was sacked basically. Achieved wonders on a small budget at Hyde, and seems to want to come here from comments he has made.
John Coleman
Still available, although he's probably holding out for something better / we may not be able to afford him. again, has achieved a lot on a much smaller budget than here, and his relative failure at Rochdale probably means he'll need to go back at a lower level.
That's not to say either are a guaranteed success, after all most of our problems are at board level, but I'd back both to do a better job than Jim.

Apart from taking Hyde up with the City money, what else has he done? He's not got a particularly good record other than that year or two which was heavily bankrolled.

'ploughing loads' rather depends on the background of the club I guess.
As I understand it, Hyde still had a middling budget in the league in the promotion year, well behind bankrolled clubs like Gainsborough & Brackley, and the traditional 'big' clubs in the league like Alty and Telford.
Also bear in mind our supposed budget this year is still around the same as Hyde's in the division above, and it's not unreasonable to assume that they're now running a slightly larger budget than they were in the division lower due to prize money / sponsors etc.

It wasn't bankrolled, they had an average budget for the league that year. However, you have to wonder why he's not worked since, and the answer to that is that he's apparently a bit of a nob with an unspectacular career.

Has Lowe been successful anywhere else besides Hyde or is he just another one hit wonder like Bogie?

the difference between the two was Bogie was fairly heavily bankrolled at Gateshead, and had all his contacts in the north east. None of these things exactly made me confident he was the right fit for a part time club in the north west, as we'd be broadly aiming to draw players from the Manchester / Liverpool / Stoke area, rather than the area he knew. (as an aside, I'd read from Gateshead fans that player recruitment was a weak spot of his anyway, which given the above, and our recent need to build a whole side from scratch every season rang further alarm bells)
As I said, it's no guarantee Lowe would have been a success, and as Zimmerman says above, he's been linked with loads of jobs and not got any of them, which suggests he interviews really badly, but he looked a more obvious fit for us in many ways.

No, did I say because bogie failed all proven managers will automatically fail? Bogie was proven, but Alan Lord is doing a better job. Alan Lord who isn't proven at all in management. It's not as black and white as you try to make out is it? Talk about throw away comments... Better job compared to f*** awful
The results are still abysmal and were in a relegation battle when at the start of the season anything less that automatic promotion would be viewed as abject failure.

I don't get all this 'We need a proven manager to get out this league' bollocks. What's it based on?
Gannon hadn't managed in League Two when he took over the first time in very difficult circumstances and look what he achieved.
Dave Jones wasn't proven when he got us to where he got us.

ANyone that talks about needing an 'experienced' manager at this level is missing the point.
We don't need a Gary Lowe or a Jim Harvey. They wouldn't do anything that Ian Bogie didn't do, or that Alan Lord isn't doing at the moment.
What we need is a collection of good people running the club. Money isn't important. The 2015 Group and Spencer Fearn had money, and they f*cked it up. That's left two good people paying the bills (and the fans, who are often conveniently forgotten; we're the biggest benefactors of Stockport County). What we need is people that want the club to do well; people that will do things for the good of the club, for what they can put in rather than what they can get out.
We don't need someone who comes in, spends a bit of money and then starts throwing his weight about after making some disgraceful errors. We don't need someone with a shit-ton of money who has no idea how to run the club. We need good people that can effectively run the Football Club. The same applies for the manager.
What we need, at Stockport County, is Stockport County people. It's that simple.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
We've got the fanbase to get back to where we belong, we just need those making the decisions to make the right ones to set the ball rolling and turn this disaster around.
The one thing I'm looking forward to most about getting back up the leagues isn't going to an actual football ground instead of a field with a four walls around it. It's not going to grounds where you have to sit with your own fans instead of being able to moonwalk around the perimeter of the pitch. It's not being able to travel as far as Torquay instead of thinking Barrow is a long journey. It's to throw all the abuse back in the face of those who have give us shit and mocked our free fall.

So it looks like we have got two camps.
The 'anyone but Gannon but I can't come up with an alternative' camp. That'll be the group snape founded.
And the 'Gannon because there isn't anyone close to doing what he did the second time he was here (never mind the first) apart from Lord' camp. That's because apart from Gannon we've only had one other manager who looks like he won't get us relegated in the last eight years.
None of snapes anti Gannon brigade can come up with even a moderately successful manager 'at this level' that's available. I knew nobody could name someone who would accept a job offer from McKnob but the Gannon naysayers are a determined bunch but they failed miserably as expected.
As things stand it's Gannon or Lord or nobody.
If you are in snapes anybody but Gannon camp then I think you need to go and have a word with yourself because that is the sort of attitude that got us where we are now, isn't it?

We're not where we are because we've had a string of poor managers since administration. We're where we are because the club has never truly gotten back in its feet since that day, and you can never hope to have a good team on the pitch if you're in such a black hole off it... We shouldn't forget that Jim struggled in his second spell, just like all the others. We were in the relegation zone when he left. We could get Pep Guardiola in and it wouldn't change a thing.
