www.stockportcounty.com/news/article/2013-12-04-raising-the-roof-1215804.aspxGood idea if no one big company like BT Sports or an Airline will buy it. Puts County in touch with lots of businesses. IMHO this should be for 1 year. That kind of advertising for £200 for the winner is amazing. Once the years up do another one. Not sure how long this is for as from what I ve read it doesn't say......? Thoughts?

I agree, this is quite a savvy way of doing things I think: generate a load of business leads to try and sell things to in future, gain some press coverage, utilise an asset at little cost and potentially make more money than the space is valued for. Good stuff.

Whether it's a good idea or not will depend on it's success but it could well work and if it does then someone deserves some credit.

So, any business which enters may start forging links with the club now or in the near future.

think this is potentially a great idea, especially if they sell all the tickets as that £100000 which would potentially be very welcome, wonder who came up with this one

Didn't we do the same not so long back where the winner could rename a stand or am I losing my marbles?

Yeah they did it with the naming rights for the Cheadle End, which I believe Parfetts won. Naming rights at our level are pretty much worthless anyway, so I didn't think that was much of a success. A giant advert on the roof of a building right under one of the busiest flight paths in the UK is valuable whatever level we're playing at. I think it'll be a success, and good luck to them.

Out of all the companies who must have entered it was quite remarkable that one of the clubs main sponsors won it. Here's to the big Robinsons sign on top of the cheadle end.

It's a shit idea.
The stand had been there for 15 years.
You really think nobody has tried to sell the advertising on it.
It smacks of desperation as McKnight tries to save his job.

Fair enough you have to try these things but I'd be very surprised if we had 100 companies/people that would stump up £200.00

Thoughts? would it not be a good idea to reward the other 499 to a free corporate day surely that's the only way to sell the 500?

You'd hope that we've contacted the airport and every airline that lands at Manchester, plus all the big companies in the North West, if they have though is a different matter.
I think Brentford did something similar with one of the big airlines that lands at Heathrow.
