Only at Lords. If you go to anywhere other than a London ground you can get a ticket for £25 in a family stand or £40 with the all day drinkers. It's a good day out even if you're not into cricket. Like anywhere tho it's about £6 a pint.. For a test? Think £40's a bit optimistic unless it's against someone like Bangladesh. Got back into going to tests regularly in the last few years and I don't think I've paid as little as £40 anywhere. It's usually £69/£70+ and often over £100. Paid £70 for day 3 at Headingley at the end of this month and, yes, £130(!) for day 1 at Lord's this August. Paid £90 for day 4 at Headingley in 2019 which was, of course, the biggest bargain ever. It's £34 to sit in the party stand at Old Trafford for the SA test. Still Sat and Sun tickets available. I paid £38 a day to do the first 4 days of the Ashes 2019 £55 for the 'better' seats at OT incidentally. I went Headingley in the West Terrace for £25ish a few years back. Think it was £45 in the old football stand about 5 years ago but that had its own bar plus a 'free' one we found at the top..

I've not been to OT for a test since 2005 because I dislike the ground so much. Didn't realise you could get so cheap in the raucous/party areas. I'm obviously getting posh in my old age!

Well those who have paid for this test have got value for money and see a result as well. My type of cricket unlike those high scoring first innings games that peter out to a draw.

Would be good to see England knock off the best part of these runs before the new ball is available - I'm suspecting Kyle Jamieson will be getting some wicked swing as well as extra bounce from it.

It will look like a relatively easy win on paper but was anything but. Losing Root would have scuppered us and he had some thick inside edges that went for runs and could easily have been a wicket and the end ignore chances. Well done to him for making the most donut though.

Well done to him for making the most donut though. I thought it was to be fair looking at just this morning. Foakes looked very solid and was even playing some shots. Root was Rooooot ticking over and more. NZ didn't bowl a maiden, let alone get a wicket. Couple of thick inside edges looking to accumulate from the late cut as he does, but one was when we were down to 10-odd?, and he looked in complete control besides that. I agree losing him with about 30 left would definitely have thrown the cat amongst the pigeons with our tail and recent record. I can't remember any balls beating the bat though. Didn't look much in it for NZ who needed the new ball - looked like we went out with the plan of knocking them off or close before that. Some achievement and what a way to do it with a winning 100*. Also, apparently, fans are entitled to a full refund with the amount of balls bowled which feels very cheeky after seeing that!

Hopefully the start of a new era and some pressure off the lads but there's still massive gaps in the batting line-up, spinner and a proper quick (with our injuries).

Me too but let's not forget he scored 1,708 runs in 15 matches in 2021 and was named the ICC's Cricketer of the Year. I wouldn't say his batting was burdened by the captaincy like some others. More that he was pretty much the only one who could bat, plus some poor captaincy decisions in-game and selections.

Whoever should have noted the weather forecast didn’t keep their eye on the ball. Most likely first team to bat will win the match. Runs in the 4th innings will dry up like puddles on the road.
