makes sense for us though as we only paid fees for 2 or 3 of our players and everyone else we got for "free"

We also renewed CJs contract this season which was never announced and paid his agent for it.

We also renewed CJs contract this season which was never announced and paid his agent for it. It explains why it was surprising that he still had a year left in the summer; I think it was pretty common knowledge he signed a two year deal, despite the length not being announced officially at the time.

Yes I suppose, although it was quite refreshing to look at the Leyton Orient set up after Pugwash posted a note that they had converted a couple of million of debt to equity. Expecting to find the usual smoke and mirrors they actually did convert debt in topco and the company that owns them have £17M share capital and no debt. The Nottm Forest one amazes me, the owner gets plaudits for converting £25M into equity when again it is converting inter company loans which the club will never be able to pay back and the company that owns Forest owes £135M However the latest tweets from Kieran Maguire show Orients accumulated losses at £17m so not particularly healthy position either. If we do get to the Championship in the 7 predicted years and have a redeveloped stadium and new training complex in Stockport we are looking at £40-60M investment rising by another £23M losses each year on average just to stay there… With the debt we are bound to take on board as a result it will take an Oil Sheikh to buy us next time…

240 people employed by county is mental. There will be premier league teams with less people. Wigan Athletic had 7 full time staff when they were in the Premier League under Dave Whelan Seven!

Not done much for them in the long run though. And there must have been more staff employed indirectly/through arms length set ups.

A little concerning this, we’ve had our fingers burnt previously but we have got an owner who’s happy to invest and spend. It’s just if he gets fed up at some point. But if we’ve got new stands and doing well at least we’ll have grown and be an attractive proposition in time. Hopefully.

Pretty sure wnm has been banging this drum all season and he was right. Damn right I have. People telling me that we’re not spending way more than the likes of Salford and Bradford when it was obvious to me we were and it’s been proven in these figures. Nearly double our nearest competitor tonight. With the money we’re spending we should have by far and away the best squad in the league and it’s very clear we don’t.

I still don’t think we are spending way more in terms of total budgets compared to the two teams you mentioned . Agents fees obviously but that’s what happens when you’re recruiting a whole new team for league 2. Salford have been spending way more for longer. Smith is on more than any of our lot. We definitely have one of the best budgets. Should we be doing better… open for debate. Money doesn’t guarantee you anything ask Liverpool, City, Utd etc. A slow start has cost us. But for 29 games this season we’ve been one of the best teams in the league in terms of results.

Do I think our budget is nearly double the size of Salford’s? No but I’d be shocked if it wasn’t the biggest in the division and the squad we have doesn’t justify the money we’re quite obviously spending. The Paul Simpson comments about Stretton perfectly backed up my thinking there.

I think it's up there but Salford, Bradford and Mansfield have been rolling the same financial dice for 4-5 years or more now at this level so theoretically you would expect their money to have gone further.

Grimsby 2-1 up against Bradford at half time, just shows how tight this league is. Looks to have been a lively half
