When Leyton Orient travel up to Stockport next month, it’ll be the first meeting between the two sides in League One since 2009-10. Since then, both clubs have been relegated from the Football League, before returning from the non-league wilderness as National League champions and then going on to win the League Two title. The various plots and characters may vary, but the overall story arcs are fairly similar. The Fall and Rise of Leyton Orient tells the incredible story of a decade with one of football's oldest clubs. Plagued by play-off heartbreak, double relegations and pivoting on the verge of bankruptcy, Leyton Orient rebuilt after the death of their young manager, winning two league titles in four years. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/the-fall-and-rise-of-leyton-orient

Just read this one, and two points.. Where did the Blackburn fan pay £11 to park? How great do those seaside specials look?

County’s first home game of the season kicked off at 5.30pm. Today it’s 12.30pm. Feels like we’re following a Premier League team all of a sudden with all these changes to the fixture list. You never know, this might be good practice! We’re top of League One and (bizarrely) signing players who made 27 appearances in the top flight last season. Welcome to County, Ollie Norwood! We’re certainly a club on the up, and there’s a ton of optimism in Stockport ahead of today’s game, with Nick Lee, Waggie, Ian Brown, Dave Marchbank and Jonathan Baker all predicting a home win. Bristol Rovers are unbeaten themselves, though, without conceding a goal. Could be a tricky one. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/county-v-bristol-rovers

With County playing Wimbledon four times in League Two over the last couple of seasons (three wins, one defeat), Ray Armfield has written a number of articles for us. Our paths won’t be crossing in the league this season, but I’ve always enjoyed reading Ray’s content, so I thought I’d chuck our ‘20 Questions’ stuff over to him by way of a catch-up. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/20-questions-afc-wimbledon

County have still never won at Mansfield in the league in my lifetime (I’m 40 this month) but I actually had a rather pleasant day out yesterday. A nice spot of lunch at Pleasley Pit, a rare point at Field Mill, and a scenic drive back to Stockport with the Hatters still top of League One. Here’s 26 photos from my trip to Nottinghamshire. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/a-montage-of-mansfield-photos

It’s County’s first game in the group stage of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy this evening. Just like Dave Challinor, we’re also resting some of our regulars today, but Jonathan Baker and Ian Brown have been called up for selection, to give you something to read on your journey over to Lancashire. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/accrington-v-county-53e
