Manchester - Sugo - fantastic scicilian pasta place, chilled out and informal too (like most places these days tbh). Think their first location was Altrincham Rudys - still the #1 pizza place years later. Though others have caught up a lot now (see black spot below). Dishoom - oppulant Indian restaraunt in a stunning building. Specialise in the 'british Indian' style. Cocktail Beer Ramen & Bun - cool place in the northern quarter. Best ramen in town. The Sparrows - Bit of a mad place this. In a railway arch near the green quarter. Amazing polish dumplings and pasta 10 Tib Lane - Same people who do CBRB, this is more of a fine dining place but still cool like CBRB. Dead relaxed atmosphere in there. Bar is cracking downstairs too San Carlo - Everyone knows it. Seems to be a go to place when you're celebrating. Classic Italian food done superbly and a massive menu with always great service. What's not to love (except the price ha). Australasia - Asian food with a seafood emphasis and australian wines. Not been for a good few years now but it's always been banging every time i've been Street Urchin - Independant seafood restaraunt near Ancoats. Awesome. Stockport - Don't really get to Stockport much outside of County but everyone tells me it's got some decent restaraunts now. The only one I go to is the pizza place in Heaton Mersey called Blackspot, it's absolutely superb and the only one that can hold a candle to Rudys. It also has Tiny Rebel on draught which is a massive plus. There's two on the market itself that are just great: Bun & Bones Club who used to be (and will soon again be) based in Hazel Grove are currently doing food at Doctor Feelgood; amazing burgers/fries/etc Kambuja in the Produce Hall does really good Cambodian food Bun and Bones is the king of burgers, fries and wings. Not been into Dr Feelgood yet but was a regular in Hazel Grove pre-Covid. During lockdown my little treat was to drive up there and get a takeaway and stand in Asda car park eating it on my own. Great days.

Not lived in Stockport for a few years so not sure on restaurants and the like.
Stayed over recently though and had a chippy tea delivered from The Sea Shell in Heaton Moor. One of the best chippies I’ve ever had.

Went to North Brew CO’s taproom in circle square last weekend. Really good selection of beers on. The bao buns were ace as well. Also paid a visit to SureShot and Sandbar both of which were excellent as ever. Checking out Mekong Cat for the first time next Thursday, so looking forward to that. Only been to Sand Bar once in about 15 years. Used to go in several times a week at uni, my ex was on the Fashion course at All Saints park and they all used to go and express themselves in there. Glad to hear it's still going. Rarely venture into town now but when I do I tend to go to Gullivers or Track and Alphabet tap rooms. Have quite enjoyed the terrace at Yes during the day but I'm too old/fat/bald to go in there regularly now. Was my first visit since pre covid and couldn’t believe how rammed Sand Bar was. Always a good selection of beers and whiskey. Always usually end up in town as not much choice in Moss Side/ Rusholme! The Angel, Marble Arch, Crown and Kettle, Smithfield Tavern, Cask are all decent boozers as well. Love Track and ABC that you mentioned.

Can highly recommend Viet Shack, Canto and Six by Nico as well for grub in town. Viet Shack is top. Thought Canto was shite. Really bad. Was 2018 when I went so might have sorted itself out now but felt robbed when I went. There's a Portuguese in Sale called Petisco which I'd bet is way better. Sale is great for food now. Was always a bland suburb but one of the best spots in the whole of Manchester now for food. Sugo, Petisco, Rudy's, Greens, Blanchflower, Zumuku sushi all within a couple of mins of each other then Cowtown Grill a bit further out for burgers, poutine and wings. Just had a look at Petisco online, looks ace. Will give that a try this year.

As a resident of Levenshulme, Cibus (Italian) is really good. Levenshulme also great for beer drinkers too. Station Hop Fred’s OverDraught (30 taps) Station South Nordie Talleyrand
For Brunch options Nordie Trove Station south Aunti Ji’s
Vegan restaurant and bar Gherkin a short walk too

Used to love C&K but they've absolutely ruined it since the takeover/refit. All the lines are numbered, no pump clips and really dithering clueless staff who just stand around chatting. I'm rubbish at remembering beers by their name but will remember a pump clip for years, just having numbers on the keg lines now makes it really hard to know what I'm drinking. It's been taken over by the new Ancoats crowd as well. There was a video from one evening last summer of about 15 young girls and lads standing on tables outside dancing to Mr Brightside. Can't be having that.

leicesterhatter will back me on this, Zaxxfried is the king of fried chicken. Main place is in Chorlton but they’ve got a collection point in Ardwick as well now serving the city centre, possibly a bit of Levenshulme too. It’s outrageously good. My Deliveroo order history to there is shameful. http://instagr.am/p/CnPHhDNIic6 That looks incredible, last week I ate in the Mekong Cat on Hillgate it was ace and reasonably priced, it's only small so you have to book, the French place (the old Winters) on Underbank is also very good and when you visit either you can pop into the Cracked Actor before or after, which is fast becoming my favourite bar.

Pizzas are good from wood oven pizza in cheadle village or the dough guys are reallly good facing the bamford arms (do guest ales in there too).
For an eat in curry, I would say Zulaika on the A6 near Dace motors. Best curry around (chicken chilli and keema, amazing)!
Chorlton has to be brewski, or their sister place in town, American pies!

I do like Brewski, it’s dead easy and everything is decent but they’re not the best at anything. Zaxx fried chicken is miles better, their poutine is piss compared to Cowtown, the burgers are decent enough but better available elsewhere. But it’s a decent environment, good beers and I’d eat anything on the menu so it’s easy if with a few people.

Sick of them now, every pub and market in the country has been banging them out for the last ten years. Give me a big slab with an inch of congealed mozzarella, jalapeños and pepperoni on por favor.

improving options in Heaton Chapel over the last couple of years too.
La Capilla at the top end of Manchester Rd, very close to Heaton Hops is always excellent. The Burbs on Wellington Rd has only just opened too - very much teething issues with service on my only visit so far, but food was very good (same people as I Knead Pizza)
Pokesevki, Easy Fish and La Cantina all good bets too if you head down Heaton Moor Rd.

Thing with tapas in the UK/Manchester is that the dishes are far too overpriced relative to what you would actually pay in Spain, even accounting for us being a more expensive country. Don't mind Canto and El Gato Negro but very pricey for average tapas you would get in Spain. Erst is extremely good if you want something fancy. One Plus a decent little place for noodles or the Chinese BBQ floor. Bit of work having to cook your own dinner though. Elnecot, Trove, Pollen Bakery all decent places for Brunch.
