Manchester - Sugo - fantastic scicilian pasta place, chilled out and informal too (like most places these days tbh). Think their first location was Altrincham Rudys - still the #1 pizza place years later. Though others have caught up a lot now (see black spot below). Dishoom - oppulant Indian restaraunt in a stunning building. Specialise in the 'british Indian' style. Cocktail Beer Ramen & Bun - cool place in the northern quarter. Best ramen in town. The Sparrows - Bit of a mad place this. In a railway arch near the green quarter. Amazing polish dumplings and pasta 10 Tib Lane - Same people who do CBRB, this is more of a fine dining place but still cool like CBRB. Dead relaxed atmosphere in there. Bar is cracking downstairs too San Carlo - Everyone knows it. Seems to be a go to place when you're celebrating. Classic Italian food done superbly and a massive menu with always great service. What's not to love (except the price ha). Australasia - Asian food with a seafood emphasis and australian wines. Not been for a good few years now but it's always been banging every time i've been Street Urchin - Independant seafood restaraunt near Ancoats. Awesome. Stockport - Don't really get to Stockport much outside of County but everyone tells me it's got some decent restaraunts now. The only one I go to is the pizza place in Heaton Mersey called Blackspot, it's absolutely superb and the only one that can hold a candle to Rudys. It also has Tiny Rebel on draught which is a massive plus. There's two on the market itself that are just great: Bun & Bones Club who used to be (and will soon again be) based in Hazel Grove are currently doing food at Doctor Feelgood; amazing burgers/fries/etc Kambuja in the Produce Hall does really good Cambodian food Kambuja is excellent & Bun & Bones are great at what they do food wise but went in Doctor feelgood just before xmas with a group from work & we left after one drink as it wasn't a pleasant experience, there was an overpowering stench of grease which was that strong it put you off your beer & all the tables were splattered with sauce. It was like having a beer in a giant deep fat fryer!

Crazy Pedros in Manchester is great for pizza, by the slice or an enormous whole one if you can. Decent beer selection too.
Bunny Jackson’s if you fancy some glorious 20/30p chicken wings with the only condition being you have to buy an alcoholic drink.

Viet Shack is top. Thought Canto was shite. Really bad. Was 2018 when I went so might have sorted itself out now but felt robbed when I went. There's a Portuguese in Sale called Petisco which I'd bet is way better. Sale is great for food now. Was always a bland suburb but one of the best spots in the whole of Manchester now for food. Sugo, Petisco, Rudy's, Greens, Blanchflower, Zumuku sushi all within a couple of mins of each other then Cowtown Grill a bit further out for burgers, poutine and wings. Thing with tapas in the UK/Manchester is that the dishes are far too overpriced relative to what you would actually pay in Spain, even accounting for us being a more expensive country. Don't mind Canto and El Gato Negro but very pricey for average tapas you would get in Spain. Erst is extremely good if you want something fancy. One Plus a decent little place for noodles or the Chinese BBQ floor. Bit of work having to cook your own dinner though. Elnecot, Trove, Pollen Bakery all decent places for Brunch. Easy Fish is outstanding.

On the subject of Spanish restaurants, if ever in Croydon check out Galicia - best outside Spain!

Not sure if it's going to be popular on here, but is Miller and Carter any good at the old Rudyard? Maybe going for a works meal in a few weeks time.

As @suedehead says, Zaxx is phenomenal. My other favourite fried chicken place is chimaek on Hulme Street (just off Oxford Road in town). Korean fried chicken is like nothing else...
Living over in Sale I don't eat in Stockport much, but to add to those previously mentioned by my learned friend, I have to add Perfect Match. Absolutely top quality food, with an added bonus of properly paired wines if you want em. Run by a young couple (she's the chef, he's the sommelier) who have got themselves into the Michelin guide, and it isn't stupidly expensive (but is definitely a treat).

If anyone finds themselves in keighley after 5pm then try Muraj on south street. All tastes are catered for and they work non stop from the second they open. Imagine being a delivery driver with them will be a real stress filled night.
