For ambience, Blues Kitchen opposite the Opera House on Quay Street, stunning interior and decor. It’s a bit on the pricy side though.

Double zero in chorlton beats Rudy's for pizza personally. BYOB too. Fried chicken, mummas in Mackie mayor is second to none although will have to try this new place in chorlton. Jane Eyre in ancoats for a Sunday roast. Marble arch do decent grub and obviously you get to have a pint in one of the best pubs in town at the same time Not been for a few years but San Juan in chorlton was always the go to place for tapas.

Jane Eyre, do they try this b*lls**t about cauliflower cheese (or worse broccoli cheese) somehow being an acceptable part of a Sunday roast? If so they can be crossed off my list straight away.

Mummas fried chicken is a good shout, just out of reach for me on delivery through so Zaxx gets the nod. Burgerism is another that is outstanding for burgers. Just opened a hub in Gatley too so delivery should be in reach for a good few in Stockport, I just sneak into the Salford delivery area.

Needed food in Marple recently and there wasn't much choice. Ended up in the Bulls Head on Market Street. Very pleasantly surprised. It's a pub so not fine dining but good nevertheless. Big portions and very good value. They don't seem to do the traditional pub stuff, more wraps, pittas, etc with fillings from the world over. The halloumi gyros type thing was very good, as was a Vietnamese type salad.

Cauliflower Cheese is a beautiful thing but not on a Sunday dinner. You can get it as an extra. Which obviously I do because cheese improves everything. Missed off this and that or kabana in the nq for a great no frills rice and 3 lunch.

Nueve in Didsbury is good for tapas, Easy Fish in Heaton Moor is superb. We like the Blue Nile in the Grove for a ruby although Third Eye in Didsbury is also good. On another couple of points, the Moor on Shaw Road has closed now, never rated it anyway. Miller and Carter I just don't get. Been in a couple of times and on one occasion was told we couldn't have what we had ordered because it doesn't go!!. For a steak, Hawksmoor is amazing. For an afternoon out try Albertshcloss (?) Sunday afternoon withe the gospel choir is ace. Saw all County squad there last year as well.

In Stockport for me there's... Food: Where the light gets in Baekdu Mekong cat Winters Little lanka Laco Cafe sanjuan The moor (may have closed?) Drink: Archive The angel Cracked actor Bottle Heaton hops The magnet We're finally getting some decent places!! Was waiting for someone to mention Cafe Sanjuan, good work! Lovely little cafe, run by a really friendly young Colombian guy, doing big portions of cracking Colombian breakfasts, arepas etc. for dirt cheap prices (to the point that last time I went in, the guy in front of me insisted on paying more on the basis that “you’re not going to make a profit like that, lad”). Kambuja (both in Stockport market and especially the one in Marple) is excellent, as people have said, and the Mekong Cat is really good too. Excited to try Little Lanka.

Elsewhere in Marple, Kambuja is great, Woodstock does really good pizza, and the Fisherman’s Table is expensive but pretty good. Traders has a cracking range of craft beer and is always worth a visit, while Samuel Oldknow is snug and had a decent range too. The Smokehouse in Poynton (and I guess elsewhere) is good for a dirty, slap up, Deep South feast.

It blows my mind everytime I go back home to see my parents and I look at what's around to order. Feels like anyone would clean up there if they just went there and did a good job. Just somewhere doing wood fired Neopolitan pizzas would make a fortune, there's plenty of money out there and little competition for food.
