Manchester - Sugo - fantastic scicilian pasta place, chilled out and informal too (like most places these days tbh). Think their first location was Altrincham Rudys - still the #1 pizza place years later. Though others have caught up a lot now (see black spot below). Dishoom - oppulant Indian restaraunt in a stunning building. Specialise in the 'british Indian' style. Cocktail Beer Ramen & Bun - cool place in the northern quarter. Best ramen in town. The Sparrows - Bit of a mad place this. In a railway arch near the green quarter. Amazing polish dumplings and pasta 10 Tib Lane - Same people who do CBRB, this is more of a fine dining place but still cool like CBRB. Dead relaxed atmosphere in there. Bar is cracking downstairs too San Carlo - Everyone knows it. Seems to be a go to place when you're celebrating. Classic Italian food done superbly and a massive menu with always great service. What's not to love (except the price ha). Australasia - Asian food with a seafood emphasis and australian wines. Not been for a good few years now but it's always been banging every time i've been Street Urchin - Independant seafood restaraunt near Ancoats. Awesome. Stockport - Don't really get to Stockport much outside of County but everyone tells me it's got some decent restaraunts now. The only one I go to is the pizza place in Heaton Mersey called Blackspot, it's absolutely superb and the only one that can hold a candle to Rudys. It also has Tiny Rebel on draught which is a massive plus. +1 for Black Spot. That place is criminally under rated. The guy that owns it used to own Socio Rehab in the NQ (now LLLB), and the cocktails there are amazing. Best thing about it: he refuses to do any delivery, because he can't guarantee what state it'll be in when it gets to you. There should be more restauranteurs that take that much pride in their product.

A few decent places round my way:
Terra and Mare on Shaw Road is very good for a local Italian.
Easy Fish is hands down the best seafood restaurant I've ever eaten at.
The Burbs (just opened on the A6 where Donatello's used to be) is well worth a visit.
I talked about Black Spot in my previous post, but as a self confessed pizza snob, it's up there with the very best for me.
Baekdu in Stockport is incredible.
WLTGI is obviously amazing but ridiculously expensive. Also a little bit hipster for my taste. I prefer Mana and The French for fine dining.
Tast on King Street (part owned by Pep Guardiola so this board probably isn't the target market) is exceptional. Proper Catalan food, which as someone that loves Barcelona is right up my street.

I didn’t really rate Mana. It’s obviously very good, but in the context and class of other Michelin starred places it’s the least good one I’ve been to. I wouldn’t go back. L’Enclume is out on its own and I doubt I’ll ever have anything as good as I had there.

What a great thread! I only just noticed/started to catch up with it the other day, so apologies if this has been mentioned, but the newish pizza place near me, Pizza Vera, is a great little neighbourhood set-up. Run by an Italian family and they take great pride in the quality and authenticity of the fare. You can sit inside or outside (not on nights like tonight though, obviously) or take away. It's on the row of shops by Davenport Station.
Only note of caution (relevant certainly to gentlemen of a certain age like myself..). Owing to the premises' small size maybe, there has been no inclusion of a WC. It's actually so near my house I can nip back if the need arises, as it is wont to after two large bottles of Peroni*. But obviously that's not an option for everyone!
*or whatever tipple you want, it's bring your own booze (economical!)..and our excellent local Bargain Booze is just next door. I think you probably order soft drinks on site.

I feel sorry for the new pizza place on Davenport, they were well on their way with the fit out of the restaurant when the old bank next door opened up as a hardware/tat shop. What a missed opportunity to do something good with it that would've attracted people as the Milliner has done at the other end.

There were a lot of rumours flying around about what was going in the bank such as tapas, craft bar & italian. Was gutted when that moved in instead. Looks a state too and yet it was pizze vere that got pulled by the council for fitting the wrong windows upstairs!

Tat and vape shops should be put together somewhere outside of town / village centres. Some of the company signage on show is also shocking. The council needs to get a grip on this.

I talked about Black Spot in my previous post, but as a self confessed pizza snob, it's up there with the very best for me. Agreed. Feel disapointed that in a topic on Stockport food places only me and you have mentioned it. It's absolutely brilliant.

Has it got much to do with the council if someone who owns a shop lets it to someone who wants it?

Has anybody tried the Brooklyn quarter in Bramhall precinct? good reviews so far & food looks very good for the price. American breakfast & brunch place with steaks & burgers, open in the evening too. On my 'to try' list but first one on that list is cafe San Juan, gonna try a pre-train Colombian breakfast on Saturday.
