I think you know when a team is ready for promotion and have a chance to compete at the next level. Last season everyone knew it should’ve been our time and so much rested on it as a result. For all those devastating p/o defeats in the early 90s I look back and think that we were never really ready for the Championship, compare with 96/97 when it was so clear that we were. In 2007/2008 we were plainly good enough for the next level even though we only did it through the play offs. This season…..the only point where I thought we were really ready was the Walsall away game, as that was such a complete performance, but really I’ve not been convinced since the turn of the year that we’d hold our own at the next level with the players that we have. That sounds mad when we went into the p/o with just one loss in twenty games, but it just hasn’t felt right. 🤷🏻♂️ Agree a million percent with that.

It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride, we turned up to a smartened up EP and got off to a really slow start before picking up in dramatic fashion mid season, it then fell a bit flat with too many home draws but we remained unbeaten for a long period and we've seen crowds like never before at EP and we're now one win away from a Wembley final, who wouldn't have taken that at the start? We've been spoiled a bit over the last few years but we deserved it after the previous 15, we've lost a bit of form and some very important players at the wrong time but we just need to win a home game, a one goal win will take it to extra time and a 2 goal win will get us to Wembley.
If we have to go with Tanto and Jack up front so be it, they're both very good young players and I know Carlisle were gutted to lose Jack and Millwall covered every base when they let Tanto go, insisting on a sell on and a buy back option, there's so much to be positive about. Pretty much how I see things, it’s funny how you can very quickly become blasé about winning, as someone who went to every home game in ‘73/74 and a fair few away games, I only saw 4 wins that season, of course there have been many other dismal seasons which we are all well aware of, so guess the nature of many football fans is rarely to be happy even when on the surface everything looks good. I think it’s been a good season but nothing like the drama of last season. In terms of entertainment, there have been quite a few memorable games but football tends to have a pattern, good teams often have a scintillating period over the first half of the season but in the second half of the season the entertainment levels dip. I think that’s a combination of fatigue, other teams getting the measure of you and setting up to stop you playing and the pressure of being at or near the top. I remember the Leeds team of the early 70s playing majestic football but then as the season progressed getting drawn more and more into dire slug fess, also County in 96/97, the football played v Sheff U away and Millwall was absolutely breath taking. By the last quarter we were simply grinding out wins and it wasn’t pretty or good for the nerves. With the injuries we have it’s going to be difficult on Saturday but you never know. If Rydel comes back, that opens up a lot of possibilities, Tanto and Stretton can hurt teams and are possibly a better bet at this stage than Paddy. The wild card is Evans, he seems to be able to pop up in the right areas to score and was involved in our best chance on Saturday, perhaps he’s actually a better option than a fit Sarcevic.

Agree with some of the above comments. We've done well and we've come a long way quickly. We have also spent some money to get here. This season could've and maybe should've been quite different without that ropey start or even just 1-2 draws were wins. It has been indifferent though. At times dare I say it's been difficult to watch despite the good run.
A few key players haven't been at it. Sarcevic barely. Madden has had an indifferent season too. Expected a lot more from both of those and we may not see them again now. I do think with being so close, this season was a crucial one to get up really. Next season we'll need several new upgrades and we'll be competing with some better teams.

Who do you think would be better suited for the role, that would be a realistic option for County? Would be interesting to know why you think they’d be a better prospect than DC too.

Blimey, we still have a full 90 minutes plus extra time etc before we declare season over. Target was playoffs and we have done that, we have spent a fortune mind and recruitment hasn't been wonderful- where the root of that sits is for those more ITK than I. As an advocate of the manager who should still be in the job I have found it hard to warm to DC after Fylde etc however overall he's done a good job, he's gaining experience at this level and has started to make earlier changes which hints at him learning from earlier mistakes, discipline seems to have got better although we often lack in dark arts. (Clearly a balancing act mind)If he gets us up despite an injury nightmare he will have done a great job.

There’s plenty of better Managers out there; Leam Richardson is a strong candidate for me, track record of winning League One and didn’t run off when Wigan’s finances collapsed so some decency in there too Why..? Probably more to do with DC limitations tbh, he’s a very basic meat & two veg Manager, really effective when things are going well but absolutely clueless about how to change things when they are aren’t (and worse still he’s developed a habit of changing things as soon as we go ahead pushing Akil into defensive midfield which stops us playing altogether) Richardson has had some very interesting articles written about him in the past year or two, his ability to create an attacking team who are also solid defensively

Yeah that’s fair If you want to upset people takes an honest assessment of Ben Hinchliffe🙃
