Does that mean you are all for it and the eventual addition of B teams in a rehashed efl bottom division if there was mass interest in these sides. I'm not all for it, but equally can't get too worked up either way about the group stages of the EFL Trophy.

I gave a toss previously. Did you really though in the early rounds? or are you thinking of that fact that you cared when it got to the business end and Wembley was at stake?? (maybe you did, but I suspect a large number were never bothered in the early rounds anyway and therefore adding the U21's has made little difference either way to their interest, but are happy to jump on the moaning bandwagon) It’s made a huge difference. I didn’t go to every single early game but would do most. It was a good little competition. Now it’s a bit of a farce. It should be for the bottom 48 clubs, not those plus PL kids

You do not need to attend to have an interest or a view on the topic.

I did. I'm not going all 'superfan' here, but I was daft enough to come back over from Liverpool for early round stuff in the 90s. I came back from Keele for our first ever game in the thing in 1984 (the famous 0-3 penalty shootout loss to Crewe). Missed my train back so stayed at home and returned the next day. I seem to remember the crowd was a normal league crowd, and the competition was seen as a good addition to the calendar. I don't think it was a "competition you missed until the later rounds" when it first started.

We had 16 home league gates under 2K the last 8 of which were under 1500! Football nationwide suffered poor attendances around that period though to be fair. It's crazy to think that whilst our recent NLN days were the lowest depths we've plumbed in the football pyramid our gates in that division were largely better than most of our division 4 days in the 80's until Danny arrived!

Maybe it's a cup thing in general though, League Cup 1st Round would never have been a game you skipped, but look at the apathy towards it now.

They have tried different formats to revive interest in the trophy without much success. They,d love someone to come up to find one that really does work. As for the league cup interest in that has always been waining since the premier league teams started playing weakened sides with players getting their one and only appearance for that club. The FA Cup is hardly much better in the 1st round when you play a team from your league who you have recently played or one who are situated miles away. Another competition that should be regionalised in the first two rounds proper.
