I'll risk the abuse but Coldplay are great live. Fantastic showmen for sure, but not sure how giving the crowd 100,000 radio-controlled LED bracelets that are probably already heading for landfill fits with their supposed green credentials? (I appreciate it’s probably really petty of me to point that out, but it did nag away at me the whole time they were on…) To be fair to them, they asked people to hand them back at the end. They reuse them on their tours.

They reuse them on their tours. Yeah, but...umm.... I really dislike Coldplay, I just don't like their music that I've 'given a try'. But I'll add this to my list to watch later tonight as I've always thought I'm probably wrong, and possibly just being a bit of a sheep here. I like some bands who are like Coldplay, so I'm going to take my blinkers off and watch with open mind. It will be the only time I've ever seen them do a live concert. I loved Paul Heaton's set yesterday. I thought he was superb and I couldn't take my eyes off that young lady he has filling in for Jacquie Abbot. And no I wasn't perving, though she is beautiful. But she sang wonderfully and I loved her enthusiasm. Brilliant. He should still pay his f*cking bands properly (if he's still running his live music venue in Manchester) though... Enjoyed the Keane set. Always like them as a band and been really interested following their 'resurgence'. They felt a little flat, and I'm not sure the instrumentation was loud enough. There seemed to be something missing in the sound. Perhaps a layer of keys or something. Very hard to explain. And, I hit things so what would I know anyhow? I'll never go to Glastonbury or indeed any other major festival. For a muso (or a drummer at least) that's probably quite a surprising thing to say. But it's just not something I enjoy. I enjoyed PLAYING the one major music festival we did back in the day (Monmouth where we had the full shamboodle, big stage, huge screens, good audience, private parking, room, PRIVATE BAR (oh f*cking yes)). But playing there was still nowhere near as good as playing a packed out Spinning Top. I think perhaps my musical taste isn't quite broad enough for a Glasto, or a Leeds or such. Looking forward to watching James later. A favourite band of mine. Anything else people would recommend??

Seen her do her solo stuff in town a couple of times. She’s fantastic. Definitely worth checking out.
