Deedler: BUT we'd have to have a board that backs him, not a board that says theres no dosh left for new players, and as soon as he left brought in about 7 or 8 duffers.
Bang on. A definite yes from me.

As much as I like Lordy it's a bit late to be cutting his managerial teeth. People keep saying this, but he's managed before. Ok not at this level, but he's managed at Atherton and Warrington to name two clubs. Its not like he is completely new to it!

Jim did a great job first time round, not so good the second so its time to move on.

It'd be a brave decision bringing Gannon back to County. If things don't go well on the pitch, Gannon will avoid all of the blame, which means the fans will either turn on the players or the board (or both).
Personally I think it's time to move on. His 2nd spell here was a massive disappointment (apart from a brief purple patch at the end of his first season) and we need someone that can get the best part-time players here and keep them here. I don't think Jim is the right man for that.

Yes, Hes the only man who can take us out of this shit league. - It wouldn't surprise me if he was back sooner rather then later.

As much as I liked Jim, as someone said on the other board....it wasn't the sacking that was the issue, it was replacing him with an unknown that cost us.

Agree but Gannon should never that been sacked in the first place. But don't worry this is all part of Ryan's plan to get us to the Championship. (aka the bad days according to him.)

Jim didn't get the backing he deserved (just like all managers under the current regime) but the results and performances were poor. Not having a dig directly at you but its like we were top of the league when he left??? First spell - Genuis Second spell - Meh. Just like when Big Kev came back.....can never create the magic of the first time!

But when you said it's like we were top of the league, No but i know where you're coming from, I just thought that we would of stayed up if we had him for the rest of the season. After all 19 days eariler we were all looking at the play offs. (after the Hyde Victory). The thing that annoyed me that most is that it was a 5 year plan, and he got a year?

Following Jack's post on t'other board. Would you be happy if Jim was involved again ? PS this is not a rumour!
It depends on what you are trying to achieve and what you are prepared to accept while working towards that aim. I want a club that brings on young players who are coached to play a skilful passing game, I understand there is no money available therefore I am prepared to accept widely inconsistent performances provided I can see progress. The only manager that has come anywhere near to achieving that is now apparently selling cars for a living while we continue to drift further and further towards oblivion. If there is another manager available who can do the same or better job then let's move on but there isn't is there? I don't think Gannon would be daft enough to come back without a wholesale change of ownership but hopefully, one way or another, the current set of idiots will be gone and we can then start talking about moving on properly.

We weren't looking at the playoffs at all. This revisionism p*sses me off. Jim was great first time around. No doubt about that, but when he was sacked we'd gone on a run of results that would have seen fans calling for anyone else to be sacked. We lost to Hyde on Boxing Day too remember! That win we had was our first win in 8 Games in the league. We won 3 of his last 15 games. Yes, he was working under ridiculous conditions and I'd have forgiven him had we gone down under his stewardship, but don't for 1 minute think we were anywhere near the playoffs.

Not read the entire thread so don't know what's been said already but I'm sat on the fence with this one.
Would he be part time or would he be full time?
How could we afford him?
Why would he return to a club that's stabbed him in the back not once, but twice?
This news pretty much confirms that McKnight is on his way out or we're soon to be taken over if true.

Revisionism Hypothetically Ifs and buts my heads spinning here
We have never had anybody return in triumph have we
There are 100s of ex players and young coaches who COULD get us going if we can stave off financial ruin. We have consistently picked the wrong one. Jim has had his chance in my opinion. He did many good things first tine round and briefly looked as though he was turning things round second time. He didn't. A new man, the right man would not bring the division.
Danny was a long term coach plucked from Rochdale Dave Jones had never seriously managed
