We are nearing the end of season 2015/16, but the work of the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative never stops.
In this respect there follows an update of where we are at, on a number of matters and events.
Some excellent news first of all namely that the Guardian Account total went beyond £18000 last week. We are constantly working to boost this important fund and all our upcoming events are geared to raise money for the GA.
First off in this regard is the Supporters Cooperative 5 A Side Tournament , which this year takes place at the Powerleague on Sunday 1 May 2016...
Already there is much interest being shown in the event which is a really good afternoon out for the family ,and with the added attraction of a licensed bar on site. You can watch the games free, but the cost to play is £5 per person, and teams should be of a max of 8 players.
So if you fancy this challenge then please get your entry in, as soon as possible please, via Andy Plant at Andrew.plant@enwl.co.uk. You can find a team registration form via this link and filling this in before hand will help the organiser no end!

On next to Thursday 2 June and the `County Night at the 2016 Stockport Beer Festival’
Thursday 2nd June is 'County Night' at the 30th Stockport Beer and Cider Festival at Edgeley Park. The Supporters Co-operative has invited some former County players, including the legendary goalkeeper Alan Ogley, who will be talking about his time at our club and those memorable victories against West Ham and Crystal Palace!
Also ….as part of County Night, the Co-operative will be holding a 'Grand Raffle' and we have teamed up with CAMRA's official charity partner; Bramhall based Beacon Counselling. Beacon exists to improve the lives of adults, young people, and children who experience mental and emotional distress. They tackle a wide range of problems from depression, anxiety and stress through to relationships, bereavement and family breakdown. The proceeds of our 'Grand Raffle' will be split 50 / 50 between Beacon Counselling and the Co-op's Guardian Account.
We would like to make an appeal to County fans and businesses for prizes which we can include in our 'Grand Raffle'. If anyone can help, please contact Dave Marchbank via email - dave.marchbank@gmail.com.
Tickets are also available for £2 from the Co-op Cabin in the Cheadle End car park on a match day or via our on-line shop.
Please follow this link - countysupporterscoop.bigcartel.com/product/thursday-2-june-2016-evening-session-beer-festival-ticket
The Co-op have negotiated a deal with CAMRA, thus….if the tickets are purchased via the Co-op then the £2 entry fee goes directly to the Co-op and will benefit our Guardian Account. Please remember to buy tickets from the Co-op, rather than paying on the door.
And now…..also run in conjunction with the Beer Festival…..Local brewer `Cyptic’ have linked up with the Supporters Cooperative and asked our members to name their new beer that is about to be marketed.
There are a couple of suggestions regarding what Cryptic are looking for with the competition. The New beer County fans are being invited to name is a Mild and Cryptic beers are generally named with a link to there name themed in the Title.
Cryptic Ales was formed by a group of quizzers who have a passion for real ale, hence the name of one Cryptic beer …. Enigma….. clearly named in line with puzzles
The Challenge to name the beer is to link the name of the beer in keeping with the Crossword/Puzzle theme and also link this to County.
What they’re looking for is a name that is a cryptic clue to the real name of the beer, perhaps including the number of letters to the answer as well, just like in a crossword.
By way of a very crude example, which doesn’t really work anyway, the name could be Dozenth Bloke (7,3), i.e. Twelfth Man- but that has neither County or Cryptic relevance which the name must have.
It’s very important that the name relates to County, as the beer is being brewed specifically to celebrate County Night at the festival.
Entries should be sent to dave.marchbank@gmail.com losing date 29 April.
The rumour is that Cryptic would be happy for the winner to “help” them brew the beer (probably late April) & to ceremonially try the first pint at the Festival (5.30pm)- the winner will be announced in the week of16 May.
We are aware that there is an England Euro warm up game on 2 June, but our events will be happening in the TV room so those so inclined can watch the game whilst enjoying some real ale.
We announced recently that we were anxious to pursue, with the Club, the idea of establishing a County Museum’ at Edgeley Park. Well….having since sketched out our plan to Club representatives, we can now advise you of the situation following a meeting of the Supporters Cooperative Board and interested party’s yesterday.
The Supporters Cooperative is well on with arrangements to apply for Heritage Lottery funding for the Museum, and we are hopeful of enlisting the valued help of Help the Hatters, SCAN and our magnificent Community Foundation in the process.
Whilst the grant application is put together we have agreed with John Fitzpatrick, that he would act as conduit twixt the Club and ourselves on the matter, and in this respect John will seek now to make a presentation to the Club Board regarding the Museum . We will keep you informed as we go!
Meanwhile we would be interested to hear from any County supporters with expertise in the area of Shopfitting and Designing- Specialising in Multi-Purpose Displays.
Anyone interested please email info@countysupporters coop.co.uk
Next up ….. we met with representatives of the Edgeley Park Caterers on the morning of the game against AFC Fylde.
We raised the concerns put to us by supporters which included..service at Cheadle End Bar, queueing issues for food and drink. Quality and price of the beer was also raised as an issue , and CSG were asked to consider improvements in these areas- this…the company representative indicated they were already engaged in doing and would advise us further when they could. Meanwhile a new manager had been taken on with a remit to include looking at the Cheadle End bar thus it was hoped matters would improve. It was agreed that contacts be maintained on an ongoing basis twixt CSG and the Supporters Cooperative.
And…finally……
You may have noticed our `Open All Hours’ online shop on
