Report of Members Meeting.
There were 26 present when Supporters Cooperative Chair Peter Towey opened the meeting of members at the Bungalow Club on Hardcastle Road.
That number, was higher than the last meetings attendance, but having been well publicised beforehand and arranged for immediately after the latest County game with Brackley Town, so as to have maximum accessibility, it was a real disappointment that so few made it to the venue .
Peter Towey’s opening contribution as Chair of the meeting, was both insightful and thorough, as he outlined in detail what went on at the recent SCFC Shareholders Meeting, which he attended on behalf of the Cooperative, the main business of which had been to confirm the current list of shareholders ( the Cooperative holds 17,500 shares).
Reports from Board members followed....
Hatters Half Marathon.
John Giles confirmed that he was still awaiting the final approval from the Waterside Hotel before proceeding with race publicity etc. It was confirmed that this was being vigorously pursued. John also confirmed that following the loss of Robinson’s Brewery as main race sponsor, he had signed up `Running Bear’ as sponsor to cover cost of the race prize list. This sign up, along with a second sponsor, that he is working on now, would bring in roughly the sum that we realised via Robinson’s support.
The Hatters Half was confirmed to be in the Race Series’ for Stockport Harriers, Marple Runners, Davenport Runners, Bramhall and Wilmslow RC.
Events and Fundraising.
It was reported that we would be supporting the Stockport Beer Week, and that repeats of Woodstockport Fest and the County Quiz would be upcoming. It was also noted that we were considering having a table at the `Programme Fair’ being organised by Help the Hatters.
Finance.
On finance, a question was asked about when the Guardian Account bank account would be transferred from the Cooperative Bank to the Vernon BS.
It was confirmed in reply that, whilst the delay in effecting the handover from former to current Treasurer, has caused a consequent , and understandable delay in this matter, the current Treasurer Andy Burt, had the matter in hand and would ensure the change was made as soon as possible .
Membership.
The Membership Report covered a recent issue with the PayPal account that is used for part of our membership system. Damian reported that the issue had now been addressed, and those members who had experienced difficulties in renewing membership should now be able to do so with no problems.
Communications/ Media.
Attention was drawn to the excellent contribution that Paul Thompson, who was busily sending out Twitter reports of the meeting at that moment, was doing with the website and other media elements.
A.O.B.
Under `Any Other Business’ it was confirmed that we would be looking at maybe sorting another `5 A Side Tournament’, and that we would push the Club to hold a ` Fans Forum’ as they had indicated they would be doing some time ago.
In conclusion, and in answer to a question as to why we were not making a larger push to boost the Guardian Account, the Chair reported that contact with the SMBC had shown us that they would not countenance dealing with us unilaterally, any negotiations on EP would need to be in conjunction with the Club as far as the Council was concerned.
We were still interested in promoting the idea of the supporters, through the Supporters Cooperative, gaining an equity stake in EP, and are actively working to get the Club on side with this, as well as considering and keeping an open mind on other alternative suggestions raised with us on the subject.
