This place is better than previously and a lot more Yellow, I really like the interesting threads not vanishing in a sea of pm for x type threads, I guess that though is part of the charm of the other place for some. If and when Boardhost stop that service I'm not sure there is much similar about, we did try one similar years back but guess what nobody liked it.

What are we really missing? The childish replacement of Dung to anyone that writes red? The use of MASSIVE in front of anything describing County? Bounab as an option in polls? Calling a Marsden because if you haven’t logged on for one day a post will have disappeared on to page 4 or 5. Wow let’s go back for that? The old Yellowboard was getting really boring and infuriating to read. Keep both open so they still have a place to post but really people will move back for all that? I think getting used to this board will make it nigh on impossible to go back and use that host. No disrespect meant to anyone I just find it daft to stay with that format over this one. To go back over a handful of posters is madness.

I agree with you TRE as Ive repeatedly said. I sincerely hope people will use both sites and input on whatever they find interesting. im sure what will dictate choice and useage of either site will simply be the thread content of whats being posted. I still dont know why this board was apparently previously under used before it became the only option, its format certainly suits many many people more than the old board does A handful of people refused to move so we gave in and went back, it will happen again. vicar Im very surprised and disappointed that the huge numbers who are so adamantly pro this sites format and condemn the old board so aggresively and frequently that would give up this site up because of as you state" a handful of people refused to move" But if you say thats what happened then I dont doubt it. But wait, seems you are suggesting the same thing will repeat itself by 9th June or whenever the old board is unlocked. Do you really think it will ?

But Roman you wont be missing anything whatsoever and the people you talk of won't be causing you further anger and distress because you have stated you wont be using the old board when it re-opens ! So whatever happens over there wont be a problem to you will it and Im sure you will be well accomodated on this board in the company of many who will fully agree with your cynicism of certain posters and the content. Im sure that TRE and suedehead who are both trying so hard to avoid an "us and them" situation would appreciate you not continuing to post as you have.

I can’t remember giving this a go last time before it was no longer there. The 3 week trial with the other board closed has made all the difference. This giving everyone a chance to see what this place offers and get a feel of what it would be like to post here regularly. That has certainly won me over. Going forward I suspect I will now only lurk there but post here unless there’s a significant migration of posters back to the old board.

The them and us situation has come about due to how the reaction to the trial was handled by those posters. The one community moving and trialling together could have happened without the fallout. Then the community would decide where we post. Flat out refusing to trial (their choice) but the manner of their responses has meant I won’t go back. Why follow such close minded opinion? It’s one thing trying something and not liking it but to not try and then abuse? Nah not for me.

Take the mental health thread. Not loads of posts but bloody important and that has stayed near the top since this board re-started. That would have lasted an hour or so on the other board and would have been replaced by various ‘PM for’ posts and the like... It's been made a sticky. It is a sticky, but people can still comment on it. Which is good.

I think its been live here for about 7 years and has many many registered users so its not new. The opportunity to use this site has always been there and for many, as it seems for you as well, they love its far superior "technology" . Fact is many dont like the features and advantages of the technology therefore its no benefit to them and they will not use it in future they will use the old site for their own personal reasons. Im equally sure that many will use both sites, lurkers and posters, and the useage, specifically the number of messages posted as opposed to views of each site will be determined by the quality and interesting nature of the topics people post for discussion and no doubt argument.

Oh the embarrassing irony of seeing these kind of threads being bumped up to the top of the board by people complaining about them or grown men thinking it's grown up to sign in and post 'grown men'.
Interesting to see that three of the people on this thread who prefer this board to the old style were in the first seven to sign up for it in 2013, two them (admins) are in the first three.

It is a sticky, but people can still comment on it. Which is good. It could have been made a sticky on the old board and people posted as a new thread if they wanted to express an opinion , its a very important serious subject but when I last looked it only had 22 posts in a 10 day period so its not been oversubscribed with comment.Bu certainly a very important read!

I just don’t recall it having been promoted much 7 years ago or any time since then. I only tried it this time as there was a block on the other site, some have seen this as an affront and others as an opportunity.

I have no idea what promotion if any TRE and suedehead have done since they formed this board 7 years ago so cannot comment. You are absolutely correct that some have seen this as an affront and others as an opportunity. In my opinion for many the problem hasnt been the fact this site exists but that- and how- the old site was closed and it was a case of here or nowhere. I wonder how those who are so adamantly pro this site would react if it were to close and they were forced to use the old site or nothing? It would be interesting but not advisable to try I think. Im sure after any initial aggro subsides when the old site reopens people can then chose to just use this site, the old site or both. I thinkyou are correct many will make that judgement on their experiences of the trial and of course the posts and threads that each site will have going foprward. The sooner this situation is over the better for all!

People don't have to like that, but without doing it there was not real chance of people trying this place out. Alternatives needed to be explored so it made sense to do it. For the record, I prefer this place but I'm not that bothered either way.

I agree Mozzer.
Which Stockport County message board we use going forward isn’t a big deal really is it....
