Absolutely amazing news. The SNP run the Tories close when it comes to criminality and corruption Politicians need to be changed regularly like nappies and for the same reason! One party state is never good. North of the ir is SNP South the Tories - grim.

And no doubt in 12 hours’ time she’ll be released again without charge like all before her. Sweating suspects probably would have worked in the good old/bad old days, but now Police Scotland appear to be hoping one of them will spill their guts because of “the social media optics”… Quelle sur-fkn-prise: Police release Nicola Sturgeon without charge www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-65873423

Tô be clear - wouldn’t want Labour, Greens, Lib Dem’s in forever either - the longer a party governs, the worse the corruption becomes and the more divorced from The real world they become

It’s an ongoing investigation and likely to still be gathering evidence/confirming (or otherwise) what they already know. It may end up going nowhere but currently it doesn’t seem any different to many other investigations of the same nature.

My knowledge of evidence gathering north of the border is a bit hazy, but I don’t believe there’s any requirement for precognition to take place in custody. I’m no Scots Nats supporter, but it’s even more of a circus than we’re having with Boris…

Tô be clear - wouldn’t want Labour, Greens, Lib Dem’s in forever either - the longer a party governs, the worse the corruption becomes and the more divorced from The real world they become Its so bad now i cannot think of a single party i,d want running the country. At least with PR you would get a broader church without one party in charge and they,d have to all get together for the country and not for themselves and their cronies.

Much as I would love PR and the fact that the parties would have to wind their necks in and cooperate with each other, think it will be some time before it happens. Would need an Act of Parliament surely and that would be like turkeys voting for Christmas. With a large number of MPs not standing at the next election, it would surely be a good opportunity to introduce it. Next election I'd going to be ve-ry interesting.

It will be interesting only for the fact that many will vote against the party they least want in power. Hardly a good endorsement for any party really.

Correct Timbers. Voting for the party you least dislike disengages peeps from democracy. The fact is many people’s votes do not count and that ain’t right.

I get your point, but that means that the Tory voters of Stockport probably around 33% in the borough as a whole - but maybe 40% in the Hazel Grove and Cheadle parliamentary constituencies - have zero representation on Stockport Council; that’s why somebody said that democracy was the worst of all political systems, except for everything else ever tried!

Stevie - good quote on democracy and agree but our voting system isn’t democratic and discourages engagement with politics. It is anti-democratic. You can have one party averaging 50k votes per seat won and another with 4m votes and zero seats! Bonkers and must change

Rumour has it, one of the names rejected from Boris’s honours list was…
<drumroll>
His daughter’s.
Although given his reputation, perhaps he just forgot their relationship?
