Of all the manager’s we’ve had I still think Turner is the one I have the least respect for. He’d given up on League One before he was in the manager’s office so had no excuse to not be prepared for League Two the following season. This has always been my view of Turner, but it was pretty robustly challenged recently by someone who knows. What was their view of the situation BW?

Hugely sympathetic article (no criticism there). My memory of Robertson was someone who was constantly injured, and never really did much when he was fit. Really flattered to deceive. Clearly the environment he was in didn’t help, but I just feel like he was somebody who underperformed. No problem if it is a criticism! Cheers for reading. It’s tricky to get across in writing sometimes as opposed to a video/audio release, but his talking about the players letting McIlroy (and to a lesser extent Turner) down was in response to a question about whether he thinks he could have done more.

Fair assessment of him in the 04/05 relegation season, but felt he was a class act in the 2nd half of 03/04 when we stayed up.
