Season start date confirmed for Oct 3rd according to a few non league reporters on Twitter. Long pre season ahead then!

That seems a long way off, isn't the FL starting in September?

Jon Keighren has just confirmed on Twitter, subject to FA approval. Reduced capacity, % yet to be confirmed.

Hopefully full crowds back by the last day or play offs. Would be a shame for people to miss out on seeing us potentially get back into the league. I for one, would love to wobble back over.

Seems this has come as a shock to Gannon and the club and thrown our preseason plans into disarray. Jim replied to me other day saying we were planning for 12th september start but would be ready to go 5th sept if necessaey, so it looks like a curveball this, but its the National League making decisions it was always going to be a shambles

I had read last week the assumption was the same date as the EFL in mid September or even maybe a week earlier like usual. This October date seems to come out of left field.

Might have something to do with the FA Cup dates that have been published today. Need to cram some of them in first.

I think some of it will be the fact the govt won’t allow fans until October at the earliest and the FA had made a commitment that they’d only start games with fans. I thought they’d say at our level the first few games could be played without fans to try and spread the games out but clearly not.

As a non season ticket holder, I’ve got pretty much no chance of getting a ticket home or away .
I’m glad the football’s coming back and hopefully there will be a streaming service to allow everyone to view the games (which id be more then happy to pay for)
It will just be very odd....seats between fans and all that 🙄

Starting the season two months later but only finishing a month later is going to mean a lot of congestion to an already packed schedule. Hopefully the authorities decide to do without the smaller cup competitions like the FA Trophy, League Cup and Autoglass for a year to reduce congestion. Not sure if they will though!

I wonder if the club regret signing up so many players already? Even with our new found wealth it's a long time to be paying wages with no income. Obviously we have the advantage of more time to train/bond before the season starts, but I can imagine the players are going to be bored shitless of the longest pre-season in history.
I wouldn't be surprised to see upcoming transfers put on hold for the time being.

At the absolute least replays for Trophy games ahve got to stop. They should be settled on the day anyway but with a congested shorter season it'd be madness to keep them.

It’s effectively the end of May right now in terms of timeframe to the new season. I’m not sure if delaying transfers is necessary on that basis but I know what you mean.
